It was NOT confirmed by snopes. And it goes back to 2006 so it is rather outdated anyway.

good gravy man, read the link!

It is an old email that has a lot of errors in it. Just get virus protection, this stuff is covered. I use AVG free...never had a problem on any of our six family computers.

The most damage these things create is the fear and worry it creates in those who don't know any better.

It especially targets those who did not grow up having to be on guard against scammers and tend to think other people are as honest as they are.

Absolutely, I just had to spend four hours on my parent's computers via a remote connection (their speed was horrible) removing malicious software because they got confused (which is easy to do) about a virus warning and bought a $20 program from some guy that was loaded with spyware and junk.

The ironic thing is that even if they had a massive virus that crash their computer they wouldn't have lost anything since I have their important computer stuff automatically backed up with a secure server.

    Just a waste of time.

Oh, I think I had that same internet service, the "Take4Evr DialUp" plan.

BTW, AVG antivirus is great, and free for the singlepoint end user.

Yahoo scans each and every attachment before you can download it and will not allow an infected file to be downloaded. I don't know if it scans email downloaded through Outlook or Outlook Express, though.

As for a great free anti-virus, Microsoft's Security essentials is actually awesome. I dropped Eset's Nod32 for it so that should tell you something right there. MSE has been tested and scored better than almost all AVs out there, ranking in the top three (equal scores). As a plus, a friend of mine (malware expert) has tested and found the MSE will coexist with AVG.

    Here's a link:

This was just another typical righteousdude2 post. An urgent message, poorly researched, and with warning symbols, but factually wrong.

    Dear Sceptics.....

This was sent to me by a very special sister in the Lord, and I did not feel that it was necessary to research the info provided. She is reliable...

I was simply wanting to pass along to any of you, who may care, info to protect your PC. If there is an error [in that it is an old warning], than I truly apologize. However, Mr. Matt remains a mean spirited brother who needs to check his heart at the door because his comments are definitely unwarranted, and nothing more than personal attacks on my genuine concern!

By the way, Just this morning, I did receive an e-mail that was of the kind I warned you about, so maybe, just maybe, it's not as old and out-of-date as Matt suggests.

I would like the Matt's on the BB to remember, that if you read something that is diametrically opposed to your standards, just ignore it. There is never need to jump into the mean spirited character assassination responses that I am always getting from you! These kind of responses poorly reflect on the Board and its members.

So my fervent prayer for Mr. Matt is that our Father be patient, because I know you must be near the top of His list of things needing to be fine tuned.:wavey:

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul:type:

Seriously, that is how you respond to a brother in Christ?

Let's me know how much you think of all of us around here.

Yes..the same brother that called me a "mean spirited brother" and has PMed me to tell me that God is going to poor out His judgement on me. Yes, I will tell said brother to stop his whining.

In spite of Matt's constant and unnecessary jabs, I thank you Righteousdude for trying to help others. To listen to some, one would think you gained something (other than Matt's unkind words) in posting this.

As far as God's judgments coming down on you Matt, you might want to see what the Lord says about those who are judgmental and offending toward other brothers and sisters in Christ. Believe me, God knows how to get your attention!

    Kind Words Appreciated

    Thank Brother,

I don't understand why Matt thinks I am out to mislead, or harm Board Members with this post. My good friend sent this to me, and I thought it was important enough to pass it on. Since she "Snoped it" I felt it was appropriate and legit...if it's old info, that is news to me, because I've not seen this particular virus mentioned yet!.

I appreciate you support and kind words, as well as those of "preachinjesus."

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul
