Warren has an agenda that doesn't include preaching about sin

    http://christianpost.com/Ministries...arifies-relationship-with-obama-07/index.html

This article, on the surface, is about Warren's relationship with Obama. I'm not concentrating on that.

What concerns me is that we have this guy who calls himself a baptist preacher and he refuses to even comment on things like the Iowa Supreme Court ruling about same-sex marriage, since it isn't on his "agenda". Sorry to tell you Mr. Warren, you shouldbe following God's agenda, not your own.

Some interesting quotes from the article:

All right now you've gone and done it. You have criticized the golden child.

More on this...Warren has been proven to be a liar as well.

    He makes this statement:

    However, here's another quote:

I have observed with interest the all of a sudden reaction to President Obamas trip abroad and his remarks concerning a global society in general and a common currency in particular. His dialog is right in line with the thinking and well thought out plan of the twenteth century as out lined by the socialist including W Wilson, Eleanor & Franklin Roosevent, JFK, Geo (H W )Bill & Hillary and Geo W Bush. The term "New world Order" which seemed to be a marching order of "W" no longer seems rhetoric but is more and more a reality with every passing day. NAFTA and The Patriot Act are only two of the examples of well thought plans to accomplish this This is the ONE WORD GOVERNMENT. But more to my amazement is the Churchs failure to see the establishment of the ONE WORLD CHURCH right under our noses either by our failure to recognize it or are we totally ignoring it? Take heed the scripture is clear that the OWC will be so near the real thing that only the elect will discern the differance.

Why because it's about Warren? If we shouldn't debate about or criticize these issues, then we should just shut down the BB.

That is exactly right. Because it is about someone they agree with. But when they disagree with you they will be just as critical of you as they do not want you to be of them or those they agree with.

You will learn soon enough that there are several people that have autographed copies of PDL sitting on their coffee tables and believe he could quite possibly be the greatest thing since the last religious fad.....

Been a while since you guys started a RW mud slinging thread...Bravo! I'm sure God is proud, as onenewsnow and christianpost are very reputable sources that never takes anything out of context!
Curious...where is the quote or source for this statement?
...and here? Declining to comment means it's not on his agenda? Arguments from silence are legit now?

If this is truly his position, I will join in speaking out against it...but until I actually see something by HIM stating this, and not a comment ABOUT him...I reserve judgement. I will add that I am not "anti-gay" either, as I believe they need to know the Lord and repent of their lifestyle. I believe Christ loves and died for them, and we are commanded to love them as well.

How can a preacher be neither anti-gay nor an anti-gay marriage when the Bible is clear?

I am as liberal as any preacher I know but I feel obligated to tell a gay parishioner that the wages of sin is death... We can't compromise the Gospel for fear of repercussion from the community living in sin. We are still commanded to tell them "thus sayeth the Lord" or their blood is on our hands (woe unto me if I preach not the Gospel...)

Is speaking to your own congregation the same as issuing a statement? I think those are two different issues in the public relations realm.

As for the rest of it, there are no direct quotes nor is there quotes in context so I'll reserve judgment. If he had gone somewhere to discuss a particular topic (advising Obama, for example), and they ask about another subject, then of course he has every right to say "I didn't come here to talk about....." just as we try to keep threads on topic. It doesn't mean that he doesn't stand against homosexuality but that he will not discuss it at that time.

I don't think that this is a valid argument against Warren. I don't "worship" the guy nor have I read the PDL (although my husband has used the book to teach a class in the past) but hearsay and opinions don't really count against someone unless there are quotes in context, IMO. I was in public relations for a hospital and know the drill. It's easy to take a statement and make it seem to go either way when you don't use a quote nor say it in context.

    Now for the actual quote...

During the whole Proposition 8 thing, I never once went to a meeting, never once issued a statement, never -- never once even gave an endorsement in the two years Prop 8 was going.

The week before the -- the vote, somebody in my church said, Pastor Rick, what -- what do you think about this?
And I sent a note to my own members that said, I actually believe that marriage is -- really should be defined, that that definition should be -- say between a man and a woman.

Yes...then you leave out the next part of his quote where he tells us that he wrote a letter to all his "gay friends" and apologized for making that statement.

    interesting

    Very interesting points.

I also have been considering that a huge unifying factor of the apostate church will be the works generated by the social/political gospel.

It can't be long now before our Lord and Savior returns! I hate the thought of all that must come before He returns, though....:praying:

I didn't start it, I didn't start it. But I will admit that I did hand someone the shovel when I saw that the pile needed to be higher.

RW, he's America's Pastor, so is that to say America is in pretty good spiritual shape or his ideologies mesh pretty well with that of the average American?

Actually, he didn't apologize for the statement, but how gays took it...that he was basically anti-them.

And then all of a sudden out of it, they made me, you know, something that I really wasn't. And I actually -- there were a number of things that were put out. I wrote to all my gay friends -- the leaders that I knew -- and actually apologized to them. That never got out.

I could stand with you on this issue. However don't think for one minute that I will let the liberal side of you rub off on me.
