So far you are the only one who has resorted to name calling. There is a word for you, but I don't have to say it. Instead, I shall report you. I won't resort to replying in kind, but neither will I sit idly by and take this stuff. if you can't be civil in your replies, get out of the thread.

No one has twisted scripture. Scripture has been posted. Nice deflection.

YOU used the word "bloodthirsty". I wouldn't have said anything if not for that.

And I'll when and where I want to. If you don't like it, that's just tough.

You are if you tell me Jesus wants me to lay down at my enemies feet.

There is a big difference in being against the many recent wars of aggression, and protecting family and property. We are to be good stewards of our gifts, protect them. Doing someone purposeful harm to protect yourself or your family is not a sin. It is not described as such, anywhere in scripture.

Christianity today and in America is so confused. Jesus tells us who aren't God to "not resist those who are evil" (Matt. 5:39) and "love your enemies" (Matt. 5:44). That's as plain and pure as scripture can make it. Anything otherwise is twisting scripture.

The mere fact that you resorted to insulting Rebel goes to show that you're one of those who twist and ignore scripture. You probably will ignore Matt. 5:38-48 and even retaliate to this post in some way.

RT, I saw "bloodthirsty" first. And it was a stupid comment. Most of us would rather the conflict not come.

It is your side that resorted to name-calling.

If your going to use a term like "bloodthirsty" to describe your opponent, then you better grow a thicker hide.

Admonishment rejected due to lack of any spiritual authority from the source.

So you're rejecting the Bible as a source of spiritual authority?!? I figured you would.

It is you I reject. Being able to tap dance through scripture doesn't make you an authority.

Now that the thread is about me, and not the subject, I'm sure you all feel better.

Yup. They only degenerate. This is a good post. I am in 100% agreement.

    I need say no more.

I didn't call anyone here bloodthirsty. Maybe you should learn to read, or comprehend. Go ahead and post all you want. Keep a civil tongue in your head, though. Try exhibiting the spirit of Christ that you claim. Start name calling again, and I'll report you again.

That is a falsehood, and you know it. Either you know it and are deliberately lying, or you have comprehension problems.

Yeah. You said Jesus wanting us to protect ourselves was only us making him "bloodthirsty". That is what you said. If you had not used the word "bloodthirsty" which has zero to do with what was happening, I would have left you alone. Please, if your going to throw those words around, expect some flak about it.

I stand by everything I have said, deleted or not.

Also, I reject the term "bloodthirsty" as civil.

Yes, you think the using the term "bloodthirsty" is in the spirit of Christ ?

    Again….pffft.

Nobody has shown where a person is wrong in defending themselves or their family, or even property. Because it's not there.

No, He is not a pacifist. He is Creator of the Universe, God, Son of God, and Savior. As far as the violence issue, there is a big difference between protecting you and your family and plotting revenge against someone who did you wrong. If someone busts down my door at 2am, they will find several 38 slugs in them. If someone runs into me and ruins my car, I am not going to figure out how to wreck his car. Sapper Woody is correct. My guess is since he is wearing his uniform he gets this all the time. By the way, thanks for serving.

And as I said, you either should learn to read or stop deliberately lying.

Here is my exact quote; it shows that what you have claimed I said is not what I said: "Do some of you really think God and Jesus are as bloodthirsty as you seem to picture them?"

For the record, I never stated my exact views on the matter, or whether or not I myself am a pacifist. I had hoped we could discuss the various passages in a civil and reasonable way and share our conclusions. I suppose that was not a realistic hope on my part. I think I'll ask for the thread to be closed.

Did I say anything about that?

Also, once again, I said that from SOME of the comments I read, that SOME SEEMED to PICTURE God and Jesus as bloodthirsty. That's what it SEEMED like to me.

Is that clear enough for you, or do I need to repeat it?

Thank you for answering in a straightforward manner and putting forth your views without personal attacks on anyone. This is the kind of discussion I hoped we could have.

That is a lesson I learned the hard way. If not for the kindness of Dr. Bob, I would not be here. This time a couple of years ago, my total focus had grown into getting back at folks instead of sticking to the issues. Anyway, while away from this forum, I joined a slightly larger forum that exposes false doctrine and teachers, like Kenneth Copeland for example. I was chosen as an admin. It kind of reinforced the lesson I had learned here. In that forum, a personal attack gets one warning then what we call "the boot." Thank you for that post. I really appreciate it.
