Normally I'm not a big fan of burning movies, books, music, etc., but this is a bit different.

It is a good symbolic was to "cleanse" the site from what it was to prepare it for what it can be.

    Air Pollution or Moral Pollution

I think they did absolutely correctly...

They evidently didn't know the old films were included in the purchase and when they found them they took, IMHO, appropriate action...

What were their choices? Sell them to be viewed again?

Of course celluloid Films (judging from the picture) don't burn all that cleanly...

But, Pollution of the heart is eternal... Air Pollution is for a "season" because Christ will renovate the earth with fire...

Nope - I think they were 100% right. When I first read the title and the first post, I figured "Why burn movies? Just toss them in the trash." But then I found out they were porn films. Those need to be burned. Without question. You don't want that falling into ANYONE'S hands. Burn 'em!

I read one persons response in a blog on that article. He said that he didn't think it was disrespectful for a person to watch or even be employed as a porn actor to make a living. Obviously this person has never picked up a Bible in his entire life. He also ststed that porn did not ruin marriages. I have never heard such a bunch of trash in my life.:BangHead:

I had sent an email to the pastor of the church. Here is his response and my email:

    Dear Rev. Bob,

Thank you for the positive feedback. I’ve received much of the opposite!

We’re very excited about what God is doing in our church and will do on that new property we’re reclaiming for Christ.

    In Him,

    Mark

    Dear Rev Eldredge

Greeting in the name of our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ.

I would like to commend you for your decision to burn those films you found in your new location. I first heard about it in a very small article in the Syracuse, (NY) Post-Standard. I than goggled it and found the entire story. I was so impressed, I then posted the story on a Christian Board I am on. I thought you would be interested in the positive comments others added! If you choose, feel free to add your own comment

May the Lord continue to bless your ministry in Jacksonville.

    Rev Bob Teachout aka Salty

ps, a word about Jacksonville, the man who directed me into the ministry was Rev Ralph Blair from the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fl

I guess their choice was to burn the movies or in splice Christian images and show them as "evangelism."

They did the right thing, and I like the symbolism as the movies were technically owned by the congregation.

BUT, come to think of it....I've never heard of x-rated drive in movies.
