Doctors kill hundreds of unborn babies every day without firing a shot.

Actually you have a revolutionary idea there. Bullet control makes a lot more sense than gun control.

I am totally against banning hammers because if one hits themselves with a hammer, it feels so good when you stop.

Of course not. Now please list the number of times that an explosive laden truck has been used to kill American citizens. Then tell me which is more easily accomplished--shooting a semi-auto gun into a crowd of people or meticulously gathering components over the stretch of months to construct a truck bomb?

If he had killed one person instead of 28, would we still be talking about banning guns?

How about President Obama start with a ban in his hometown of Chicago and see how much that affects the DAILY shootings and killings.

Don't forget how many were killed on 9/11/01 with box cutters. And then there are the four assassinated on 9/11/12 because of the Obama administration's negligence!

That's funny, because of how strict gun control in Illinois already is. For example, if you possess a gun, you are required to possess an Illinois Firearms Owner ID (FOID). If you wish to purchase firearms or ammunition in Illinois, you must present your FOID; no FOID, no purchase. If police come into your house for any reason, and see a firearm or ammunition, they are authorized to ask you to produce your FOID; not having your FOID is an automatic fine of around $500.

We keep hearing about Chicago shootings, but nothing about whether the perpetrators had their FOIDs....

Why the negative comment about Obama? It is the mindset you have posted for the last six months that allowed him to be reelected. On top of that, how many did you tell they were headed to hell for voting for Romney?

I get your point--that semi-auto weapons are not the only way to commit mass murder.

But we don't have a rash of truck bomb killings going on in the U.S. The OK City bombing stands alone. We DO have an ongoing problem of mass murders committed with semi-auto weapons. So rather than address the problem of semi-auto weapons you divert attention to other methods of killing.

and if we get rid of any guns we will. My point is the guns automatic or otherwise is not the issue. it will happen with or without them.

You really think if access to guns were restricted that wackos would turn to truck bombs to pull off their evil deeds.

OK, so let's just live with four to six mass murdering sprees a year committed with guns and not do a thing. :tear:

Yes, the issue is not guns it is the evil in their hearts.

This assumes that making no change to gun laws mean there is not change made in any other way as well and it is incorrect. Let's discuss real solutions not bandaids on shotgun wounds.

Do you own a gun? If so, what are the reasons?

    Some truths we conveniently forget:

Guns themselves are not the evil here.

Passing laws only stops honest people- just like locks.

If some one is sick enough to kill, they will find a way.

Thousands more are killed each year by other means but no one wants to outlaw those means.

Public hysteria is a lousy reason for enacting new legislation. There should be a "cooling off period" for discussing and enacting new laws during times such as these.

More commons sense thanks. But libbies are not interested in sober thinking. They have their agenda and are just waiting for the right tragedy to push it. socialism 101

Ronald Reagen was shot with a revolver. John Lennon and Harvey Milk were each killed with a revolver.

JFK was assassinated with a bolt-action rifle.

The sidearm of the American military--those not lucky enough to be issued a Colt 1911 .45--was the .38 revolver.

Banning semi-auto weapons won't be enough. Banning "military style" weapons won't be enough.

Reagen said, "Peace through strength." Give it some thought.

This is all true. Now I'd like to see a list of more than 10 people that were killed at one time with a revolver or bolt-action rifle.
