To all Baptist Board members and readers.

My bride and I need your prayers.

As several of you know, I had cancer surgery of the esophagus almost three years ago. After seemingly doing fairly well for this time, some seemingly unrelated health issues arose for me starting about 3 mos. ago with pain in my back.

Unfortunately, tests completed yesterday show that my cancer has metastasized into much of my body, predominately in the skeletal system, and I have been effectively given only 3-6 mos. to live. There are no good options for treatment, apparently except for some palliative radiation for pain. In addition, I have more than one health issue, as well, so am unlikely to be a good candidate for any aggressive-type experimental treatment, even if something is available.

I am not afraid of dying by any stretch, fully trusting in my Savior, who died in my place, :jesus:
but I do ask for your prayers for strength, prayers for my family, and prayers for the ones who may wind up treating me, especially in the area of pain management.

I have enjoyed my time here, on the Baptist Board, but it looks like my days will now be few. Thanks again in advance for your prayers.

    Ed

Ed, Certainly you and your family and friends are in my prayers. Grace and healing are certainly a part of those prayers.

Ed, I hope you don't mind me saying that I lost my mother to cancer a few months ago, and though the Lord didn't see fit to heal her, we did receive blessings in that she never was in alot of pain, and was lucid till the end. If it is your time to go home, then I pray the same blessing for you brother.

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish,
yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction,
which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding
and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things
which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for
the things which are seen are temporal; but the things
which are not seen are eternal.
    2 Corinthians 4:16-18 KJV

I admire your boldness and courage. You have been a blessing to so many of us here. Go spend some time with your family.

Oh Ed! I'm crying for a man who I've never met but yet come to love. I'm so heartbroken because this sounds so much like how my mother found out her breast cancer came back and I remember how hard it was for the family. I pray God's greatest peace on your family and I pray for His grace for you. Use these last days to show how mighty God is in your life to your family and friends. My mom struggled towards the end and started questioning God, which I'm sure I would too in such circumstances but it made it so difficult for me to watch my wonderful Godly mother in such a hard place. In the end, she gave glory to her Savior and passed peacefully with a group of friends standing over her bed praying for her.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do. If it would be possible, I'd love your address to be able to send something to you and to your family. If you're not comfortable with that, maybe there's someone on the board who could be a "contact" person who would be willing to collect cards and forward them to you. Whatever you wish, my brother.

    ((HUGS)) and prayers for you.

Thanks, NightShift for your kind words.
I want to encourage all of us to pray for our
    poster's request.

Just a :praying: icon and truly taking the time
to pray might encourage those who have not
a much time as I have at this time.
