I don't think this could have been said any better, what comes after the BUT is our own standard and definition of how a person should/shouldn't etc... With all the sin and evil in this world I am surprised the Church is concerned about dressing modest and neck ties. I guess the devil has no work to do in those Churches???

Some men should wear neck ties so they could be hanged. That woman should have been addressed by John Wesley when he spoke of using a pair of scissors to cut out her tongue.

    No.

You and me both! I live closer to the street of "casual," and "laid back." I used to fret over it for my own reasons, but I came to the understanding that I am always before the Throne of God, or at least I try to be, and Sunday Morning I am before the Throne along with my brothers and sisters. Sometimes I dress up and sometimes I dress down. I am happy for the freedom to do so according to my judgement as opposed to a strict dress code.

If I were to give a testimony or even share a teaching, I would most likely dress up a bit more. Tie? Maybe, maybe not. Easter Service, I also sang with the choir and that was concert dress . . . white and black (well, save for the funky orange and blue tie ) .

In the past I didn't wear a tie to church, now I do. When I started my new job and had to wear a tie everyday for work I decided that if I was going to wear one for man then the least I could do would be to wear one for God.

I see absoutly nothing wrong with not wearing a tie, the fact that I wear one is simply my personal choice.

    ain't that the truth

Reminds me of "yes, God is sovereign, buuuuttt....", or "yes, the Holy Spirit is the One that convicts men, buuuutttt...", or "true, Jesus is the Savior, buuutttt....."

First of all, as long as you are covered, I don't care WHAT you wear to church.
IN our church it is interesting because we have some wearing jeans, some wearing kakis and some wearing suits.
A lot comes down to profession.
We have a couple of medical professionals that would not feel comfortable in less than a suit.
We have farmers that wear kakis and a nice shirt.

    Others that wear jeans

I wear a tie if it looks good with the outfit I am wearing, an I am the song leader.

What a person wears is between that person and GOd and we really don't care one way or the other.

There are many more important issues than what to wear.

I am a middle aged guy who has never felt comfortable in a tie and therefore I have only worn one on rare occasions. In fact, at the present time I don't even own a tie and have no plans to purchase one in the foreseeable future. I'm not going to go to go to church dressed like a slob, but to my way of figuring I've always believed that God looks at the heart and not at the outward appearance.

If you sweat like a pig, then you don't sweat at all. That's the reason pigs waller in the mud.. oh, maybe that's what you meant.

I also see the tie for all you fellows out there who say you are the "boss" at your homes. The tie is for the wife to show everyone else who really is the "boss" by leading you back home when she is ready to go. You are sitting there telling everyone how you rule your house and all of a sudden you feel a tug on your tie and guess who? It is the little wife leading the "boss" home.

I haven't worn a tie to church in years. In fact, I haven't worn a tie anywhere in years, since my job allows for casual attire and I don't go out much to places that require dressing up. If the Bible commanded wearing a tie I would do so, but I'm not aware of any passage that dictates what clothes to wear to church.

Ironically, growing up on a farm, I know that pigs sweat very little (they do sweat, but not much), but I still use the expression.

pigs go back to the mud to cool their flesh... which is why Jesus used that analogy. along with the dog goes back to his vomit.

Why? The mortician is just going to take it off to prepare your body.
