Here are my notes from this week's Bible study;

-THE DOCTRINE OF PRESERVATION- (6)

Continuing with a series of lessons on....."the Bible's preservation"!

LETS GO TO....... 1 Peter 1:24-25
======================
God’s most poetic passage...in promising to preserve His Word...1 Peter 1:24-25
------------------------
Reminding us of how important His Word really is:
And how profitable it is for us to study and memorize it!
======================
AS WE HAVE DONE WITH PREVIOUS PASSAGES.......
LETS TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT THE CONTEXT OF THIS PASSAGE: 1 Peter 1:22 - 1 Peter 2:3

V.22A “Seeing ye have purified your souls”
-A WONDERFUL RESULT.....OF GOD’S PRESERVED WORD-
(A book....that can purify our souls
If we are doers of the Word:

The Supernatural quality of God’s Word!
======================
V.22B “in obeying the truth”
-GOD WORD IS “TRUTH”...THAT NEEDS TO BE OBEYED-
(Therefore God will keep His truth preserved
--------------------------------------------------
Regardless of what man may try to do!

V.22C “through the Spirit”
-A SELDOM TALKED ABOUT ASPECT....OF GOD’S WORD-
(In light of it’s Supernatural quality
--------------------------------------------------
It can only be understood:
By way of God’s Spirit!

V.22D “unto unfeigned love of the brethren,”
-THE INFLUENCE......THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD...HAS UPON US-
(It deals with our heart
To genuinely follow the LORD’s instructions:

And one of His first instructions to us:
Is to love the brethren!

V.22E “[see that ye] love one another with a pure heart fervently:”
-AN INFLUENCE....THAT CAN BE DOCUMENTED-
(In those who follow God’s instructions

In how it effects.....the way we feel about each other!
======================
V.23A “Being born again,”
-THE ONE EVENT....THAT ALL TRUE CHRISTIANS SHARE-
(Being born from above
--------------------------------------------------
A supernatural experience:
------------------------
By a supernatural message:
------------------------
From a supernatural book!

V.23B “not of corruptible seed,”
-HOW GOD’S WORD IS SUPERIOR.......TO THE BEST OF MAN’S WORD-
(The best....that man’s writings has to offer
Would be........traditions from our fathers:
See Verse 18

-A WEAK SUBSTITUTE.....THAT COUNTERFEIT RELIGION USES-
(The so-called “holy” books of the world’s religions
That have been produced by man:
And have no power at all........to change peoples lives!

V.23C “but of incorruptible,”
-A UNIQUE CHARACTERISTIC.....ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD-
(It was produced & is preserved by God

God used His Spirit in men....to pen it:
------------------------
& God used providence to preserve it!
======================
V.23D “by the word of God,”
-THE KEY REASON.....GOD PRESERVES HIS WORD-
(Because it’s only “by His Word”.....that Lives are changed
--------------------------------------------------
We would have no hope...if God’s Word were ever lost!
======================
V.23E “which liveth and abideth for ever.”
-THE WAY STUDYING THE CONTEXT.....ALWAYS PAYS OFF-
(Because you find “truths” like this

“God’s Word...lives and abides forever”
Qt. John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh....”

God’s Word(the Bible), is “of” God:
Therefore it shares God’s qualities!

V.24A “For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.”
-THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH....ABOUT EVERYTHING MAN-MADE-
(It’s as enduring as “grass”
--------------------------------------------------
10,000 years after man & all he has done...is forgotten:
God’s Word will still be around!

V.24B “The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:”
-THE GUARANTEED DESTINY....OF EVERY MAN-MADE IDEA-
(Every idea that is not based soundly on Scripture
Will fall away and be forgotten!

-HOW GOD’S WORD.......COMPARES TO MAN’S WISDOM-
“All flesh” = “as grass” & “withers”
“All of man’s glory” = “as a flower” & “falls away”

-MORE LIGHT......ON AN OLD TRUTH............GOD GAVE TO HIS PEOPLE-
c.f. Isaiah 40:8

(This is a truth
That God wants His people to be aware of:
--------------------------------------------------
Because it....”will have an impact upon our lives”!
======================
V.25A “But the word of the Lord”
-AN ATTITUDE.......THAT SHOULD BE A PART OF OUR VOCABULARY-
(We should be saying.....”But the Bible says...”
--------------------------------------------------
When we trust the Bible to be God’s perfectly preserved Word:
We will allow it to guide our lives!

V.25B “endureth for ever.”
-THE REASON......TRUTH FROM GOD’S WORD.......IS SO IMPORTANT-
(Because it is....”of the LORD”
Therefore it will last forever!

This one truth......about God’s Word:
Should prod us on to study & memorize it:
Like there is no tomorrow!

V.25C “And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
-A RULE OF THUMB....THAT EVERY PREACHER SHOULD USE-
(To only preach and teach...from God’s Word

-A RULE THAT WILL EFFECT......OUR BIBLE STUDY MATERIAL-
Sure.....Pre-made Bible study material is handy:
But it does not compare to:
Teaching directly from God’s Word!

ORIGINALLY.....THERE WAS NOT CHAPTER BREAK HERE:

V.1 “Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile,”
“and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,”
-FIVE THINGS THAT WILL CHANGE....WHEN YOUR BORN AGAIN-
(Because we have more than just a religion
--------------------------------------------------
Because our faith is not based upon........man-made principles:
But upon God’s Word;
------------------------
Therefore “it” will make a real change in us!
======================
V.2A “As newborn babes,”
-ANOTHER CHANGE.....THAT IS JUST AS IMPORTANT-
(In the area of changing our life
--------------------------------------------------
We will have a desire.....to feed upon God’s Word!
======================
V.2B “desire the sincere milk of the word,”
-THE KIND OF “WORD”.....BABY CHRISTIANS SHOULD WANT-
(A sincere and pure copy.....of God’s Word
------------------------
It’s the most natural thing in the world:
For Christians to want a perfect copy of God’s Word!
======================
V.2C “that ye may grow thereby:”
-ANOTHER REASON.....GOD SAW TO IT....THAT HIS WORD WAS PRESERVED-
(Because we depend upon it to grow
Qt. 2Timothy 3:16,17 "All scripture......”

-THE ONLY WAY.....TO GROW UP TO BE A SPIRITUALLY HEALTH CHRISTIAN-
By feeding upon “pure milk”:
------------------------
Imagine giving a baby Coke or Pepsi instead of milk:
They might grow....but they would not be healthy!

V.3 “If so be ye have tasted that the Lord [is] gracious.”
-A PERSON’S FIRST TASTE...OF THE PURE MILK OF THE WORD-
(The Gospel

And if they receive it:
They will never be the same again!
