Just found out that Wes King is sick.

I got to work with him and got to know him a little way back when I was involved in CCM.

He's a Godly man and one of the few people who kept me from becoming cynical. If you're not familiar with him lyrics, he combines thoughtful, introspective lyrics with guitar virtuousity.

He's probably one of the most underrated guitarists around.

I was very sorry to hear that he's sick. Please pray for him.

    Mike,

What do you mean by "sick"? Do you mean seriously sick? As in cancer, etc?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Ooops, I see now. Lymphoma.

Is that a synonym for cancer?

We'll be praying. Mr. King is one of the "Big 3" guitarists in Christian Music, one of the most innovative songwriters and musicians I can think of. AND he's a great guy to boot.

I read an interview with him from 15 years ago. In it, the interviewer asks how often he practices. "You're Wes King, renowned guitarist and songwriter, and you're incredible. If you had to guess, how many hours a week do you practice?"

"I don't have to guess. I practice 48 hours a week," says King.

    "WOW! 48 hours? Why?"

"Well, playing music is my job. So I practice 8 hours a day, for 6 days a week, because if I don't, I'm not doing my job to the best I know I can. God has gifted, yes, but God also disciplines. And if I don't use my talent and gifting to win souls to Christ, then my life is nothing. And it happens to be that I love what I do."

    Good answer.

    In His Grip,

D28guy, that would be cancer of the lymph system
    .
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is a malignant (cancerous) growth of B or T cells in the lymph system. Cases of the Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (about 55,400 in the US this year) far outweigh cases of Hodgkin's Disease (7,100 cases in the US this year).

Hodgkin's Lymphoma or Hodgkin's Disease (two terms for the same thing) is a malignant (cancerous) growth of cells in the lymph system. Hodgkin's Disease is the better known form of lymphoma (the other lymphomas are grouped into what is called the Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas).
