Galatians 5:22-23 " 22But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law."

I see none of that at Westboro Baptist Church

    Nope, only hate.

    Exactly.

They even go so far as to claim that if Jesus were here on earth, He would be preaching right along with them. They actually claim that God hates everyone except them. It is a very, very sad situation. Hates eats away at a person, as does anger. I pray they can overcome all of this hatred and anger and find the truth of God's love.

I wonder why people would unite with that church? Can there that many bigoted Christians out there?

Maybe it's really just a bunch of non-Christian's.

His church is essentially his extended family, many of whom are lawyers.

His son, Mark, who has been estranged from the family for many years, put it aptly:

Are we really still discussing them? I honestly don't see the interest or the intrigue in them.

Seems to me like they are those Jesus speaks about in the gospels.

Fred Felps Sr. is a national level LOOSE CANNON.
He has been disrupting Oklahoma funerals. These
funerals are for those who gave their life in Iraq.
What straight men who die for their country has
to do with homosexuals beats me :(

Last Sunday morning Fred Phelps Sr. lead mostly
his family against the First Baptist Church of
Del City, Ok - the largest Southern Baptist
Church in Oklahoma. They were nominally protesting
a State of Oklahoma Representative who they
falsy believe is a minister at FBC of Del City.
This Representative has introduced legislation to
regulate the distance from a funeral others
    can demonstrate

I think what should be a law in Oklahoma prohibiting
the use of children under 10 to demonstrate
    on public roads.

Phelps'es old 'thing' was GOD-HATES-FAGS. BUt not he
    is into GOD-HATES-AMERICA.

I think Fred Phelps Sr. should at least pay for the
hundreds of police who protect his first ammendment
    rights. :(

If you look at his vile website, you can see that Fred Phelp's viewpoint is Calvinism taken to an extreme. He believes he and his followers are saved, and the rest of the world can literally "go to hell." Not saved, he asks? TOO BAD, he answers on this website.

It's people like Phelps who make me think that if heaven were to be filled by predestined saved people like him, then hell would be better.

Has anyone seen this latest piece on Westboro?

    http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91136-1200311,00.html

Listening to it, I became very sad near the end when the reporter was interviewing Phelps' two granddaughters.

Phelps is an abusive ball of hate. You wouldn't need to go any further than to listen to part of his sermons to tell you that. But there's plenty of facts about his abuse of his wife, his children, the legal profession (he was disbarred), not to mention his verbal hatred of the "non-elect" (translated: everyone but him and his followers).

Listening to his grandkids, though, is far worse. They're quite happy that the world is going to hell and they're not (in their view), and to them it's all a big joke. (Of course, they've been raised totally in the Westboro mess, so they know nothing else.) I wanted to cry after listening to them.

Pardon my phraseology here, but Phelps' two granddaughters are hot bodies with ice-cold hearts.
