Why not pray that those left would truly be converted and go on for good?

Is it wrong to sing that song from Wizard of Oz?

Surprises me you would even refer to it as a church.

Some where over the rainbow? Maybe we should all picket his funeral.

I agree. It is always sad to hear of a life ending. He sincerely believed he was doing what God wanted. IMHO he was sincerely wrong. It is sad to think of a life gone that could have done much good, but did, again IMHO, much wrong and caused many people pain, outrage and grief as well as harming the image and message of Christ for many.

Jim Jones was sincere too. Sincerity never made anyone right. Many are sincerely wrong. Satan is sincere.

Father forgive them, they know not what they do.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

To repeat a query by another and more esteemed member around these parts, from yesterday, does anyone every look to see if a story has already been posted before putting their own up?
A gay rights group in Kansas has said they won't even do that. Why would we?

I've never known full whether to even take him seriously. He seemed almost like a mockery of really conservative Christianity; sort of like Landoverbaptist and I thought I once hears something to the effect that he might have been a spoof by gay rights advocates to make.

Though now, it seems like he wasn't as right before this, he was actually disfellowshipped from the Church, by successors who thought he was softening because he was trying to get people within the group to get along.

As for picketing his funeral, even before he died, the son or someone say they won't have a funeral, because they don't "worship the dead". (That's probably part of why they chose to picket funerals in the first place. Not only to proclaim God's "judgment" for the national sins of abortion, etc. but also because the act of having a funeral itself is a damnable sin, apparently).

I'm sure someone else will rise up (either that church or from somewhere else) to continue the legacy of casting mockery on the Church.

(They probably should just merge these threads)
