    Church Schools

    Bro. Larry,

Is the school a "church school?" That is to ask, is it a ministry and under the auspices of a "local church?"

If it is, I would run "quick-fast-and in-a-hurry" away as fast as Jonah did the first time the Lord called to him.

These are most times NOT very good academically and are mostly not much more than what you could get from a good Sunday school.

Might I ask: Why would you want to go to a "church school" rather than a regionally accredited Bible College or denominational university anyway? I ask out of love. This fight has been fought on the BB many times over.

If you do a "degree" from a "church school" and want to do some real academic work on the Master's level later on you may have to start all over again. They you would not get any credits for the work done at Atlantic.

But, if you see yourself NOT EVER WANTING TO GET OUTSIDE OF THAT PARTICULARLY NARROW CIRCLE; then it would be OK to do that "degree!"

Please before you do this get much council from some of the real life academics on the BB. I believe they will all back up what I am telling you "in spades!"

    sdg!

That sounds like the school in Virginia by the Independent Baptists to train teachers and missionaries for work in the field. It was not designed to train men for ministry per se.

For it design, it is a very good school. If you want academia, try a seminary or university whose end is such.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Right school

Jim, you are right on target. It is a decent enough school for what it was designed to do. They have limited their curriculum to undergraduate Bible college work. They are definitely not a degree mill and do not offer advanced degrees for substandard work. Their rigor and expectations are roughly comparable to community college work in the secular area. They may be a viable option for someone whose goals are compatible with this type of education. I recommend a visit and checking out the school.
