(subsidiary of RJ Reynolds), or working for Anheiser Busch, or working as a bar back earning your way through college, or bartending...

I know some good Baptists who have been employed by RJ Reynolds (executives, upper management, etc.) who would never smoke.

I know some good Baptists who have bar backed to earn their way through college. (of course if the college had found out (being that it was a Christian school), they would have been kicked out...

I know some people who used to work for a tobacco company but got convicted about it and went somewhere else to work.

    Comments?

Now I know this can go off in a tangent about working at McDonald's and contributing to obesity, etc., etc. But the perceived "sins" when it comes to good Baptists is the drinking/smoking issue. So if you don't drink or smoke, is it sinful to contribute to those "vices" by engaging in employment related to?

I have a dear friend who was looking for work.

    He has a gentle character.

He was willing to apply for anything and he was willing to accept any offer to work.

He told me that he had applied to a company that collects debts. In my heart I felt my friend would not like this work, because he might have to press other folks to pay their bills. I did not discourage him, because he wanted this job and he needed to work and my friend did not ask me for my advice.

I privately mentioned it to the Lord.

That door closed to him and another door opened for him which was more suitable to his character.

I thank the Lord for watching over my friend.

    Dave.

I've been driving cabs night shift for 11 years, that beats all of them.

I can get an interesting discussion now and then, but would really rather do something nicer....Like be a hitman or drug dealer ;)

Considering I recently went to Sea World, an Anhauser Busch park....

What is it Paul said? Let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or by observance of the moon or sabbaths, or what you wear, or where you work, or how you made you way through college, or what kind of aluminim foil you use, or what theme park you recently went to, or what kind of snack food or frozen dinner you buy.

Well, maybe not quite like that, but I think you get the picture. [IMG]

I'm going back to my box of Nabisco crackers (aka, a subsidiary of RJ Reynolds).

How many of us use EVERY DAY, products from Johnson and Johnson? If we began listing all the companies that in one way or another support abortion, stem cell research from aborted fetuses, sold alcohol, tobacco, etc... we'd just have to go back to growing our own foods, not watching t.v., listening to radio, not driving vehicles...

Hubby is searching for a job. We've NOT applied to sales jobs for Coors, R.J. Reynolds or to sell ads for a G/L/B/T magazine. For 2 years he's worked 2 part time jobs just to keep our bills current. Sometimes I'm tempted to apply to any job for him.......

I would never work for either a tobacco or an arms company - both are totally immoral professions that trade in human misery and suffering.
