John, this is why people don't take you seriously.

First of all, when you call people names like morons, it shows right off the bat that you're not serious about discussing the issues.

Second, when you make an accusation and don't have the courage to back it up, it's just childish and, frankly, cowardly. Such childhood pranks are just the rhetorical equivilent of the childhood prank of throwing a flaming bag of dog mess on somebody's door and then hiding in the bushes, giggling and patting yourself on the back for your own brilliance.

Personally, when you say these things, I don't think, "Wow, MississippiJohn says that Glenn Beck is wrong. I'd better run right out and cancel my Insider subscription". No, it just makes me think "Gee, another liberal is calling somebody names. Is this really all they've got?" and reminds me how awful the schools are in Mississippi.

Such childish games, John, not only don't persuade people to embrace or even understand your arguments. They just drive them further away.

Yep, and I bet John has a bumper sticker on his car that reads, "Would Jesus Drop a Bomb?"

Actually, I'm beginning to wonder if John is a college professor. He puts out the same drivel I used to hear from many of my professors in college. There wasn't a bed wetter they didn't love and a conservative they didn't hate.

Because the poster wants to make the case the Christians shouldn't be concerned with politics. Christians have the moral obligation to influence our goverment to abide by Christian understanding of law

Beck's show isn't a religious show. It is about the history of this country and how we are losing what this country was founded on to a group or liberal atheists. If that doesn't concern you then I will pray for you.

Hmmm...not sure it's helpful to be sarcastic about the salvation of other believers.

I think abortion is horrific, which is why I do my best to effect change on a personal level. I don't want it to be legal, but I long for the day when there's no demand for it. I realize and welcome that political change can reduce the number, but I also know that it won't change people's hearts. Political change never does.

If the Church in this country would stop worrying about changing people through political means, which is a position our Savior didn't take, and start loving people as Christ did in tangible, life-changing ways, many of these issues would be less of a factor.

And we can't boil it down to the issue of abortion. There's a lot more at stake here.

My distaste for Beck is more that he rambles incessantly about the same things over and over and, like most conservative media, looks everywhere for soundbites and proof statements that can be taken out of context and used against other parties. I'm not saying I don't agree with a good bit of it, but I think Christians need to limit our exposure to such information, so that we don't buy into all the sensationalism.

Interesting....libbies say Jesus did not worry about change through political means when it comes to the wholesale slaughter of unborn human children but libbies at the same time think Jesus does want change through political means when it comes to social justice.

    I'm still not a liberal.

And, as social justice is a Christian idea, I don't think it should be done primarily through political means, either. Both of these are the responsibility of the Kingdom.

Rev, please stop picking apart everything I say in order to prove false inconsistencies and incompatibilities? I would love to have a legitimate conversation with you, but your tactics are really making that impossible.

"Primarily" in this case means that the Church should be making it their business, while the government obviously has some responsibility when it comes to taking care of their citizens.

I'm not contradicting myself here. If you'd like to discuss this, that would be great, but I don't appreciate being made into a false example of liberalism.

By the way, you quote B.H. Carroll in your signature. Did you know that he pastored a Church with female deacons?

In other words you can't. I figured that out when you had to cut and past from The Huffington Post then pretend it was yours. It seems your intellectual arguments go as far as what you can steal from The Huffington Post or Media Matters.

But when you find something from those sources that show where Beck is wrong on what he says regarding Cap and Trade, be sure and cut and paste it for us to see.

I don't listen to Mr. Beck for his spiritual views. I haven't heard anything yet from his history lessons that has proven wrong. I have ever learned quite a bit that was never taught in my school days. I tell you this: if my history teachers in grade school/high school/college were as fascinating to listen to or watch, I might have enjoyed it alot more growing up.

Love Glenn Beck's show. Watch it everyday with my daughter who is a high school senior. She says that she learns more from his show than she ever has from her high school civics classes.

He is exposing the progressives's agenda for America, which is why they hate him. The darkness does not want to be exposed to the light. The progressives are taking over my country and we need people like Beck to wake up America to what is happening. For example, Cap-N-Trade is merely a scheme to enrich the cronies of Barak Obama at the Chicago Climate Exchange. It will impoverish the rest of us. It's like Soviet Russia - the few get rich off the backs of the many. I don't want that to happen to my country. Do you?

And the fact he is a Mormon to me doesn't matter, because his show is a political commentary, not a religious service. Although I do hope that he will be saved someday.

    Amen to that...

... wouldn't it be great for America and the Evangelical church if Beck were saved, and shared his love for Jesus with the same conviction he shares his love for America??

We should be praying for his salvation. You are so correct, Peggy!:wavey:

I thought media matters was an ultra left-wing, liberal organization. The few times I have read anything from them it is obvious that truth is not to be found in their mission statement.

Oh, and when I hear someone say they prefer to oppose abortion on a personal level, it usually means that they are male and will not have an abortion.
