    Well New Orleans is out.

(Actually, the French Quarter is alive and well. But thats about it.)

In the Baton Rouge area there are a lot of plantation homes to visit, and of course there are many excellent restaurants throughout south Louisiana, particularly if you like seafood. A swamp tour can be fun, too. To be honest, though, once you take New Orleans out of the picture, LA is not a great place for a vacation.

    Well!

Unfortunately, much of the US thinks that Louisiana's only contribution to the universe is New Orleans.

Thats sad, isnt it SCarlett? I lived in N.O. when we were in seminary, and there are other places in Louisiana that are interesting. Same as Mississippi - people comehere to go to the gamblin' boats. ('Cep they cant go now!!)

If I went to Louisiana, I would definately would take one of them fan-style boat tours, and hopefully see some alligators, and birds I would never see anywhere else. And I would love to sample some of the food.

We drove thru southern LA years ago and stayed for a couple of days with friends in Alexandria. I found it to be eeriely beautiful--hanging moss, swampy, etc. Loved the food! My friend is a great cook! Had jambalaya, some kinda rice that was yummy, etc. I'd love to go again!
