Hi. I don't post here much, as you can see, but I read a whole lot. I'm wondering, what do you think being self-righteous means? Do you know anybody that's that way? Briefly, I think it is acting or feeling holier or better than someone else, for whatever reason. Yes, I know people like that, and I try not to be.

If being righteous is being right with God, then being self-righteous is being right with yourself? You look to yourself for guidance and justification, and have a bundle of pride to back it up!

    Jessie,
Well the Word says in Romans 3:10, "As it is written, there in NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO NOT ONE."

So, God's Word says that there are not any righteous people. But then down in verse 26 we find out how we can become righteous.

Only through Jesus Christ's shed blood can anyone be righteous. Roman's chapter three has alot more to say about the human condition. What do you think of Roman's chapter three?

In truth according to these verses we cannot be self righteous. I know I can't because I claim the perfect blood of Jesus my Savior that has washed me clean. Any right acts that we might do are as filthy rags next to a Holy God.

PLUS - I see it as an individual "who has not died to self."

I too, like the way you phrased it, OliveBranch.
