    When I was a young preacher, an older preacher gave me the following advice: "At a funeral, you don't preach them into hell; neither do you preach them into heaven (if you are unsure of their spiritual condition)."

    And I've learned (because I'm a pastor and a funeral director)that something good can be said about everyone without preaching them into hell or heaven.
