    Detainees under Harry Potter's spell
    By Rowan Scarborough
    THE WASHINGTON TIMES
    August 8, 2005
Harry Potter's worldwide popularity is so broad-based that it has become favorite reading for Islamic terror suspects at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay.
Lori, who for two years has overseen the detention center's library, said J.K. Rowling's tales about the boy wizard are on top of the request list for the camp's 520 al Qaeda and Taliban suspects, followed by Agatha Christie whodunits.
"We've got a few who are kind of hooked on it. A couple have asked if they can see the movie," said Lori, a civilian contractor who asked that her last name not be publicized.

I heard this a few weeks ago on Medved. Although it doesn’t surprise me it affirms that their religion is based on the occult. And they seek knowledge and power from satan. How pathetic that they crave Harry Potter books. [IMG]

LE, do you really believe they can cast spells?

Enoch, how do you figure Muslims seek "knowledge and power from satan"?

Pole it's pretty clear. Have you read your Bible. There are two powers one is God and one is satan.

No it's not clear, and yes, I have read the Bible. I know taht Muslims do not seek power from satan, but consider him evil, as do Christians.

Show me where I said that Enoch.

But assume for a minute that they don't. They do not worship or seek satan.

BTW, Allah is just the Arabic word for God. Even Arabic bibles use the word Allah for God.

Im sure there are about 520 detainees to tell you that Allah does not mean the God you think it means MP. They take great pains and greater pride in being decidely different.

    Enoch, yep.

Anyway, after some reflection on the issue I came to the conclusion that Harry Potter and Agatha Christie are probably 2 of the very few names on the books on those librarycarts that those inmates recognize.

By the way on that Allah is a former moongod theory LadyEagle provided a link for.
Outside of a couple Christian apologists and their fans there is nobody who takes that theory seriously.
As far as I know there are no real archeologists or islamologists out there who give it any credence.

Hopefully, the Iraqi government will embrace the common sense to not mix religion into their constitution.

Not being overly familiar with the Koran, I feel a little ignorant, but won't the 72 virgin idea help the muslims with their witnessing program?

Doesn't fantasy contribute quite a bit to varius religious beliefs? e.g. Harry Potter makes sense)

Not with women, except for the occasional lesbo.
