Of course the church is not a building, but when we refer to the building itself, we often call it the church. Calling it "the building that the church meets in" seems to wordy. Referring to it simply as the sanctuary doesn't always work, as I spend the day in my office, not the sanctuary. I've tried just using the phrase "my office" or "the office," but that doesn't reflect the spiritual dimension of spending the day in prayer, worship, and pouring over God's Word. Is there a better word or phrase that you use to refer to the church building?
