This is just something that came to my mind... What do you think of a teenager working a part time job? I just got a job at Cracker Barrel to help offset the cost of my sister and my way to go on a missions trip. Is having a part-time job ok? Only if it for a cause? Or bad all together??

    By all means, they should!!

  3. Why would a part time job be bad? It only helps you get more prepared for a full-time job.

Having a part-time job all during high school is a fantastic idea! It not only teaches you a good work ethic; but prepares you to deal with the public. Not to mention learning to handle money, responsibility etc. It also allows them to tithe and learn how to live on a budget. [IMG]

(It also helps mom and dad when you can help with the cost of some of your clothes) [IMG]

Nothing wrong with it. I'm getting a job this summer. I'm hoping to be able to go to Tabernacle Baptist Highschool my senior year, and then to their college for the following four. If I want to go, I gota be able to help pay for it.
I'm hoping to get a job at a little resteraunt owned by a good friend of my preacher's. ALthough if they want me to cook, we could be in for it!

I fully believe in teens getting a job - its a big help when you leave school - that you have a lot of experience

However - I would suggest summer jobs would be better then year-round part-time - since that can divide a teens attention from school which is what they should be curently focussed on

I believe that a teenager should work to support their own expenses. But only if it doesn't interfere with their school work.

When I speak of their own expenses, I don't mean food and shelter. I mean special extra clothing (name brand stuff) telephone bill, car payments and insurance and personal spending money.

I personally didn't make any of my children work while they were in school because I didn't want them out there before they had to be. I offered them ways to make a little money around our house in babysitting, yard work and things like house painting and cleaning the garage. This seemed to work out well for all of us. I got the help of my youthfully energetic kids, and they weren't out in the world absorbing worldly attitudes so much. And they still learned financial responsibility by paying for the things they wanted themselves.

I have a part time job... I love it(though there are those days when I ask God WHY LOL) it also gives you and even bigger "missions field" right in your area...

my dad is a firm believer that missions trips are good and nessecery... but why leave a perfectly good mission field and go to another... God asks us to work everywhere not just on those "Mission Trips to Mexico"

I'm not trying to say your mission trip is wrong or anything... just giving a different perspective to your job ;)
