If you make webpages, how do you create them? What tools do you use?

I must really be old school. I use an empty notepad window. [IMG] I use some other software (Photoshop; used to have Corel Draw) to help with components to my pages, but other than that, I just write the page myself using HTML and JavaScript.

    Like I said, old school.

Honestly, I'd rather do it that way, but I haven't had the time to really polish my HTML skills. I'd rather use the tools and tweak the results. [IMG]

I started out clueless and used the aol editors, but got frustrated with not being able to do what I wanted and same as above now, just type it out in notepad, for what I don't know (which is a lot) I'll try to look it up on a site that teaches that stuff but I've found it's easier to just go where I've seen what I want done before, view the source, and steal the code from there. Notepad (HTML).
    Corel Draw.
    IrfanView (for conversions, etc.)

I also use either WS_FTP Lite or SmartFTP to upload the files.

When I want to use WYSIWYG (which isn't often, because I hate code bloat): Netscape Communicator (code bloat is even worse with Front Page).

Even though I've been writing embedded and PC software for 15 years, I've never gotten involved with HTML so I bought a simple little editing tool to help me out.

    Allaire HomeSite

(My buds swear by Notepad... I can hear 'em snickering at me now)

    visual studio.NET
    XML Spy
    Photoshop

why on earth anyone would use notepad is beyond me - the amount of time that you waste typing out stuff like tables when you can just drag and drop them with a half decent tool is ridiculous

    doh!

I hadn't even thought about that!

If I had to use a text editor to create pages I would use something like programmers file editor which is also free - but for my mind you can't beat a decent wysiwyg editor.

Netscape Composer & Arachnophilia, a dozen or so image viewers, and SmartFTP to upload.

I'm playing around with Edit Pad (suggested here); I'll give programmer's file editor a try, too.

Titus, what version of Arachnophilia are you using?

Personally, I was using SmartFTP, but I got annoyed real fast with the "upgrade to SmartFTP Pro" window that popped up every time I started the program.

G'day Don, Arachnophilia 3.9 this way.

I just started experimenting with SmartFTP recently, seeing how it goes.

You know he's gone to version 5, right? Except that it's a completely Java-driven program now?

I'm not liking it as much as I did version 4.
