Ours does many things well--gifted musicians, good preaching, good Bible study, good at taking care of the hurting and poor, and good at fellowship.

Lots of churches do those things well. But we have something I'm noticing that this church does really well.

People are really starting to dig in to Bible study on their own. Sure, some of us have a lot to learn, some of us have a lot to unlearn, and some have a lot to teach.

Some clearly aren't saved and don't know beans about the Bible, but we seeing that hunger for God's Word hit this church big time.

    Excellent!

So what do you see as your church's biggest strength?

Exposition of the Word and authentic inter-personal relationships. We do not have a bunch of "programs". Have found people involved in "programs" felt like they were de facto "spiritual" because of being "active".

Personal relationship with God and personal relationship with others in the church family take a lot more energy and focus, but we find it worth it.

I'm with Tim. We're real good at eating.

And as the music director, I can say we don't sing half bad, either.

Attracting young people and actually preaching and teaching the Word of God to them. Our youth program is jammed, as is our AWANA, and they are not playing games. They are learning the Word of God. This summer alone we have had at least two young men be called into the ministry and one young lady called to be a missionary.

Our church is old, the current building was constructed in 1951, however it is on fire. And not on fire in a modern, watered-down type of way. We sing the old hymns, use a piano, organ, and drums, have an old fashion choir, and wooden pews. There are no rock concerts, light shows, or wrestling matches in our church. Our pastor wears a suit and tie and preaches the Word of God (from the KJV no less ). He does not wear Def Leppard tee shirts or faded jeans. For the past few years we have been going through the Gospel of Matthew. He does not preach to make us feel good. He preaches to teach the Word of God. We have two services in the morning and both are usually full. We also have Sunday night and Wednesday night services which are well attended. The average age of our church is in the 30s. We are growing and, more importantly, God is at work.

ps...we are not a KJV-Only church. My pastor preaches from the KJV because in rural North Carolina you don't have much of a choice.

Well we all are Baptists after all. Eating is what we do most often and therefore what we do the best...

I love all the aspects of the church we attend now, but I especially enjoy the Sunday School class I attend.

I think it's probably presenting doctrine in a way that we can understand and use in our lives. It's hard to find a pastor who can do that without either glossing over stuff or just using big impressive words that half the people wouldn't understand.

This is the second church in my life where the pastor has both the talent and knowledge to actually pastor like this. It seems like most of the pastors I've come across were more evangelists than pastors.
