DD was cracking a rib at my comment to him on another thread.... (Something I said about Casper) [IMG]

So I started this thread, LOL.

    So -

What does your soul look like?

Do we have a body and soul?

Or do we have a body, soul, and spirit? (trinity)

What does your spirit look like?

What does your soul look like?

    Are they the same?

How will you be known as you are known?

What Biblical proof do you have for your opinion?

We can't "see" our soul/spirit. They're not a part of our "physical" makeup. They're part of our "spiritual" makeup. We can only "see" the physical parts of our makeup.

In other words, I don't have a clue what a person's sould and/or spirit look like. [IMG] [IMG]

Revelation 6:9 - "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain..."

John could see the souls under the altar.

I can't think of a scripture that describes what a soul looks like.

I think my soul looks exactly like my physical body looks - same shape - except a soul is invisible until it departs the body.

So when someone looses an arm or a leg, they experience the sensation of the lost limb still being there.

The soul is incorporeal so when an arm or a leg is cut off, the soul cannot be cut off. Its still there, invisible and just as real as before.

It looks to me like the soul of a lost man is cut loose from his body at the new birth by the Lord Jesus Christ - "circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ" - Colossians 2:11 so that you are no longer a captive to the flesh.

The flesh doesn't get saved and doesn't change at the new birth.

Your dead spirit (Eph 2:1) gets born again (John 3:6) or quickened - made alive (Eph 2:1).

Your soul get saved - Romans 10:13

Your soul gets cut loose from your flesh (Col 2:11).

And at the Rapture, your fleshly body dissolves II Cor 5:1 and you get "clothed upon" with a new house which is from heaven II Cor 5:2.

If you've seen one, you're welcome to explain it. I've personally never seen one.

Are just our physical bodies made in the image of God or are our souls also made in God's image?

Genesis chapter 2 verse 7 in my Bible says
"And the Lord formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
    We ARE souls.
So I suppose my soul looks like me, and your soul looks like you .....

Being in the image and likeness of God referrs to us having a soul. It does not refer to our physical appearance or makeup.

Good post rbrent, you helped me on that part about the "old man"/ lost soul being circumcised. I already agreed with the rest of your post.

No John, I've never seen an actual aura personally, I have seen what a certain film process showed that couldn't be denied of the aura of a maple leaf.

I do know people who say they've seen my aura, one imparticular has been a best friend for many years, she is lost though, and sort of wierd anyway.

I'm not too much the realist that I can't discuss the metaphysical, it does exist, at least in the figment of one's imagination anyway. It's real enough to cause people to do some mighty strange things, so it cannot be totally denied. There is the "spirit world".

What did Saul see when he consulted the witch of Endor and he saw Samuel? He definitely saw what looked like Samuel whether you agree it was actually Samuel or not. That would be at the least proof of the spirit can be recognized by the natural eye. Was it Samuel's soul? I believe it was, but it definitely proves visualization and identity of the spirit.

Beloved, now are we children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 1Jn. 3:2

We would so much like to be able to find an answer to everything down here. But there are somethings we will never know in this life. Here the inspired writer, John, said he doesn't know what we will look like. So any guess is just that, a guess.

See a soul? Is that like smelling an unclean spirit?

If you have seen your soul, you got sharper eyes than I. If you haven't seen a soul, how can you comment on what it "probably looks like?" This is a bit silly.

"see souls" in Revelation reference is souls as a term meaning the people themselves I suspect, but can't prove it, I admit.

I've heard the Spirit of God speak to me, but not as a voice, rather as an impulse to do something, I did it, I avoided a disaster or even death, many times. We all have, just think "that was lucky move" or "what a great thought coming from who knows where?"

Happens constantly, but we shrug it off as coincidence because we think as cessationalists those powers vanished with the apostles or when Bible was completed. No I'm not a charismatic baptist, I'm a Christian with power from on high within, Christ in me the hope of glory. [IMG] [IMG]

Wondering what the soul looks like is not silly, but is easily determined by the realization that the soul is never separate from the person's identity. Not limiting a person's soul to their visual image, because the "soul" of many is felt in their artistic accomplishments. The Greatest Artistic Accomplishment is that of the Risen Christ, I have not actually with the naked eye seen Him, but I sure have FELT Him!

Vaspers, not me either, but I also, if you get it?
