The next time you hear a politician use the
Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
Whether you want the 'politicians' spending
    YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
But one advertising agency did a good job of
Putting that figure into some perspective in
    One of it's releases.

    A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

    B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

    C.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were
    Living in the Stone Age.

    D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

    E.
A billion dollars ago was only
    8 hours and 20 minutes,
    At the rate our government
    Is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain...
let's take a look at New Orleans ..
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

    Louisiana Senator,
    Mary Landrieu (D)
    Is presently asking Congress for
    250 BILLION DOLLARS
To rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...
    What does it mean?

    A.
Well... If you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans
    (every man, woman, and child)
    You each get $516,528.

    B.
Or... If you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets$1,329,787.

    C.
Or... If you are a family of four...
    Your family gets $2,066,012.

    Washington , D. C

Sadly Rev, doesn't seem like anyone cares? I do and maybe we've gone too far. We elect immoral characters into our Congress and Whitehouse just because they speak well and have loads of money raised to put them there. Look at all the corrupt politicians that are exposed almost everyday now. We have kicked God out of every part of our society and we wonder why we are in the state we're in?

I think it all boils down to the fact that they are playing with someone else's money (ours) and that makes them thoughtless and careless with it. Top that off with the need some have to take care of every need presented them - legitimate or NOT and we have billions being spent every day.

    one more thing . . .

This of course has always been reprehensible, but it is more so when people are losing or have lost jobs, salaries have been frozen or cut and government just keeps looking for new opportunities to tax and then spend.

I remember when I managed a radio station, I was given a $50.00 petty cash. If I spent more, they would reimburse, but before I spent a penny, I would ask myself, would I buy this if it were my personal money? There would be times, even if the answerer were yes, I still would not use company petty cash. There were actually times that I did use my personal money. For example, when I had a staff meeting, I would (personally) buy pizza form my "troops".

too bad congress doesn't think that way.

Actually, Salty, they think it is all "their" money. My dad used to say, "'What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine, too' is their attitude."

And until there is an uprising where common-sense minded Americans rise up and demand accountability, it will continue to get worse.
