I currently have a local news station website set for my home page. But the last few weeks, it's become bloated with video clips (that start automatically) and other things that I don't necessarily want to see everytime I open my browser. It's not customizable, so what you see is what you get! [IMG]

So today, I've been looking for some other website to use. Basically, I like news (local, national, world) and local weather. Google News looks pretty good...informative and clean-looking as opposed to junky.

Any suggestions? What home page to you use?

I'm not very creative. On my home computer I use my web-email. At school I use the school webpage. I do that because every once in a while if the IT guy has reset the server, it gets a kink in it that needs a-fixin.

I've used my-yahoo. I go back and forth between it and my web-email periodically.

    www.thehungersite.com

I know it's not a news site, but clicking on the site provides food (via advertising dollars) for starving people. I heard about this about 3 years ago from a professor of mine.

I use http://www.msn.com/ It came with my service a long time ago. I haven't even thought about an alternative before.

I used to use abcnews.com, then I moved to the BB. Now I have Biblegateway.com here and at school.

Create your own page o' links, save it as HTML, and set it up on your local drive. Quick, convenient, and always exactly what you want.

google.com because I search there all the time. I could just use the browser's search box I guess. Okay, I've decided to change my home page to my daily devotional ( My Utmost for His Highest), which is the first site I go to everyday.

I hand write my own for two reasons...

    1. The "Favorites" don't give me the control I want...

    2. I do not want *anything* automatically connecting to the internet without my knowledge or direct action...

    Consider this...

What happens if the Site you've chosen as a "Home Page" gets compromised?

And, get's compromised in a way that precludes your regaining control to reset the home page after IE is opened?

    Just a thought...

The personalised Google homepage lets you set whatever RSS feeds you want. Microsoft's beta www.start.com looks better but seems unstable... even for a beta

I use about:blank. In other words, a blank page.

My tastes change so frequently that I just use a blank one to suit anything.

I usually hit dailyrotation.com first, though. Gotta have my tech news fix, ya know. Top 100 tech headlines, and my choice of source headlines.

    In Christ,
    Trotter
