What if the Mayflower had not sailed off course and the Pilgrims did actually end up in Virginia? How would this have changed US history?

We would be eating possum, rather than turkey, for Thanksgiving... :D

...& they would have set up our first trailer park.

    Wow, what a thought.
I actually go to Jamestown every Saturday to go biking (when I am not travelling, that is), either on the island itself or along the Colonial Parkway.

Not only did they sail off course, they could not have picked a worse place on the James River to put their settlement. I live on the James about 40 miles west (downtown Richmond) and they would've done better to sail further upriver.

    Regards,
    BiR (actually in Charlotte, NC)

P.S. Headed to Buffalo in two weeks - could you make sure there is some lake-effect snow for me?

You can't get the stink out, no matter how hard you try. Even baking it in mud won't work. (But it keeps the kids busy.)

A better place for a first settlement = No Thanksgiving?
