Reporter: “What city does this administration consider to be the capital of Israel? Jerusalem or Tel Aviv?”
Carney: “Um … I haven’t had that question in a while. Our position has not changed. Can we, uh …”

Reporter: “What is the capital [of Israel]?”
    Carney: “You know our position.”

    Reporter: “I don’t.”
Lester Kinsolving, World Net Daily: “No, no. She doesn’t know, that’s why she asked.”
    Carney: “She does know.”

    Reporter: “I don’t.”
Kinsolving: “She does not know. She just said that she does not know. I don’t know.”
Carney: “We have long, let’s not call on …”

    Kinsolving: “Tel Aviv or Jerusalem?”
Carney: “You know the answer to that.”

Kinsolving: “I don’t know the answer. We don’t know the answer. Could you just give us an answer? What do you recognize? What does the administration recognize?”
Carney: “Our position has not changed.”

    Kinsolving: “What position?”
Carney then moved on to another question.

I truly believe that the United States is about to pay the price for so blatantly turning against Israel like this. The current administration, no matter how many times that he says he is a Christian, obviously does not read God's word.

    The correct answer is:

For political Israel - Tel Aviv
    For spiritual Israel - Jerusalem

Has any US administration recognised Jerusalem as capital?

Reading the Bible has nothing to do with the capital of the modern state of Israel. Jerusalem was the capital of ancient Israel and will be capital during Christ's reign on earth. Neither have anything to do with the UN established nation.

Though it isn't directed at me...to my knowledge no, and they shouldn't. The Israelites were dispossessed of the land when the Persians conquered them in about 500 BC. One could make the point that they were able to reform until AD 70 but without several of the tribes of Israel. Political Israel was not formally reconstituted until 1947.

I don't believe they have. But that again is just another reason why the United States keeps getting what it deserves as more and more, we compromise on our support to Israel. It's the same path that Christendom is taking with so many other things. And we will shortly pay the price.

I am a pre-everything progressive dispensationalist, but don't think US policy toward the UN established political nation of Israel has anything to do with prophecy and I do not accept that God is going to judge the secular American government for her policy with the secular government of modern Israel.

I didn't say and Scripture doesn't say that God will judge the secular American government. The nation, not the government, will be under His judgment and whether or not we accept it is irrelevant.

Haven't most US Presidential candidates promised to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem but for some reason, once they get into office they never follow through?

So you believe that God is going to judge the people of America because of her government'e treatment of a secular country established by UN mandate?

Does that mean modern Israel can do whatever she wants and the US has to support her or God will judge the American people?

Yes, it's common campaign rhetoric. Sort of like declaring Tiawan an independent state or balancing the budget.

Excellent reply. Adding that first one to my battery of questions to those who believe modern Israel is the same as the biblical, Old Testament Israel.

God will judge the nation just as He has always judged nations who have rebelled against Him and His way.

What it means is that God has a plan to reconcile a disobedient Israel to Himself, but that He will also deal with the nation that does not support Israel.

Modern Israel has done nothing but what God has allowed her to do in order to get her ready,so to make a hypothetical about anything she wants to do is somewhat disingenuous for modern Israel has rarely done anything that hasn't been precipitated by her enemies around her.

So as this nation continues to turn against Israel and puts a face on the nation that has, more so in the current administration than any since 1948, an attiude of pro-Palestinian over Pro-Israel, then the NATION will get God's wrath.

Totally disagree - I see no Bible evidence that a nation established by UN mandate and calling itself Israel has anything to do with Biblical Israel.

I do not think US policy toward this secular state should be dictated by by statements made about God's chosen people. No modern state has that protection.

Israel is Israel. Trying to confuse the issue does not change the fact that this country is taking a very wrong stance against the Israel that Jesus Christ will set His feet down upon when He returns after the Tribulation period.

When Jesus returns He will not be bound by whether Jerusalem is in Palestine or Israel, He will re-establish TRUE Israel. Until then I don't really care where the US puts their embassy.

On the OP, I agree that the White House spokesman handled it miserably. Have the guts to give an honest answer and live with it.

Again, Scripture does not need us to agree with it. The nation was re-established in one day just as Scripture foretold. So to attempt to separate the two and stop the clock from ticking is futile.

The Israel re-established in 1948 is Biblical Israel because God's word said it would be.

The re-established Israeli state has that protection whether or not folks want to accept it.

Exactly what state is it that you think Jesus is going to return? Exactly what state's people/descendants do you think are being reconciled during the seven years? What state do you think the two witnesses are gonna appear in?

Where does the Bible say that God would re-establish Israel in 1948?

Just because folks don't agree with your interpretation of prophecy does not mean they are ignoring the word of God.

That's right He won't because Jerusalem is in the re-established state of Israel just as He intended that it be.

He's already re-established TRUE Israel. And the United States will get her day of reckoning for her downward spiral of wickedness and turning away from supporting Israel.

He dealt with it the way that he did because the administration is for the most part wicked to the core and lacks much of anything that could be called a Godly conviction.
