What is the most important for you in your christian life? What has a christian to pay attention to in his daily life, according to you? Which counsel, would you give to a new christian, to help him, to grow up in his Faith?

hey cality, i've been desiring for someone to start this topic that you've created. well, the wisest of all, King Solomon, advised the youth to focus their youth on the things of God, but then this advise went after 10 chapters of asserting that fulfilling someone's own satisfaction from the world is in fact vanity.

i deeply respect King Solomon, and all His writings i always consider to be superior than the greatest of my judgements. however, there is this one confusion in me which takes me as far as getting stumbled with King Solomon. Having been the wisest man, King Solomon still needed the experiences of worldly (INDEED!) things before getting to understand their vanity. in such a case, how could i, being much less wise than him, get to that understanding without experience? having a head knowledge of knowing that the things of the earth is vanity is quite easy, but to understand it by heart is not.

To get back to the point, although as commanded, as christians we should look on things above and not on things on earth, it is not easy to be obeyed as said, for there are times that the things of earth seems to be the practical and logical way of life to be considered most important. that is why to the world, we come to look as fools for Christ's sake.

havings said these, i think that whatever will be considered by a christian to be most important for him will depend upon which has influenced him most, the bible or the world. that is, simply being a serious christian will not guarantee anybody's perseverance with it. it will also depend on how much wisdom has he already acquired, not simply the sincerity he's devoting to it.

For me, the most important thing is living for Jesus, and telling others about the Amazing Grace that God freely offers. Jesus is the One Great Love of My life. Also, growing in Grace, and knowledge. I want to KNOW God more, not just facts, but Who He really is.

    Cality,
May I encorage you to study.......study Gods word with zeal! Blessed is the man who meditates on His word day and night. Hide the things you read in your heart. Keep your eyes fixed like flint on these promises and exhortations. This, along w/ a determined prayer life are (IMO) most important.

    IN HIM,
    Scott

I have to echo Scott here. Be in the Word daily. Pray daily. These things are not encouraged without reason! Your relationship will be stronger with God the more you are in the Word and in prayer.

Last night I was riding a bus home from work, and I was the only one on the bus besides the driver. We started talking (I figured that most of the bus drivers looking rather rough were unsaved), and I told him I was a pastoral major. Well, it became a very short trip home. He ended up being a Christian, and popped out more Bibles and commentaries out of his bag than I have ever seen anyone carry with them. As we were talking he told me in his experience the one piece of advice he could give me was to always be studing God's Word. I think it's neat where we end up meeting Christian brothers and sisters and the conversations we have with them.

Hi thanks for your answer. I did not ask it for myself, but your answers are interesting.
I completly agree what you just said. The best advice is to know Jesus better, to trust him more and more, to know more and more his word.
    God bless

I think some main things I concentrate on are:
am I growing in my christian faith or am i backslidding?
do I pray as often as I should?
have I been faithful to stuying my Bible or am I just skimming over it?
did I control my temper today?
did I hurt or ofend someone today?
If I could give advice to a young Christian I would say: NEVER give up. God is faithful.
Never be afraid to ask questions about something ya don't understand. You will never learn unless ya ask.
Stay faithful to church and your Bible. your church can be just like family, and the Bible will answer your questions and give you a guide line on how to live your life.
If ya make a mistake, get it right with God then, and keep going. Learn from your mistakes.
And Mainly remember that God loves ya and always will! [IMG]
