Joseph, do you think that using a tract which explains God's plan of salvation along with Scripture is wrong?

Did I ever say that? Please quote me. I believe I came out in favor of using the Bible when witnessing. It was you and Jim who came back to say the Bible was too expensive and impractical. I am defending the practicality and usefullness of the Bible. Am I in the Twilight Zone?

Personally speaking, and this applies to only what I have seen, I have seen more people saved through the use of a Gospel tract, then the Bible alone. Of course the soul winnder did have at least a New Testament handy and used it also.

Biblically speaking, God has made a promise that his Word (not some tract) would not return void. I don't think, of course, that God was playing some numbers contest against a tract. A large following does not nessecarily make the message or the cause correct. The Bible talks about this constantly, stating that the Word of God is folly to those who are perishing and the way to destruction is wide and many will follow it. I am not saying that a Gospel tract is the way to destruction. But it is also certainly nowhere close to being a match or better than the Bible in practicality. If there are those who reject the Bible, it is because of their spiritual condition, and changing it to appeal to the lost is not the solution. God convicting them of their sin and saving them is. God is sovereign and will save whom he wills. It is not my job to manipulate the Gospel and entertain them into heaven by appealing to their intellectual side. I am simply to preach the Word and it is God who will save them.

Are you accusing people who use tracts of manipulating the Gospel?

Since most tracts do contain the words of God, then the promise is still valid. I am sorry you refuse to see this.

    No Jim,

I am responding to the message of this statement made by AV1611Jim:

"BTW If they do NOT accept what you are trying to give them then how on earth do you expect to give them the knowledge of your Saviour?
    I can see it now...
"Hey buddy... stand still while I read you the Bible."
    Passerby, "Get lost!"

IOW, the Bible is not good enough for him and for the lost world, so let's package it in some fancy worldly package, and manipulate the message to make them feel better about themselves. It is called, let me see if I can remember the term for it: Easy Believism. From what I understand, it was prevelant with those such as Hyles.

If a lost person rejects the Bible, it is not because there is a flaw with the Bible.

This is incorrect. The promise is for the Word of God, not some man's interpretation of the Word of God. I am sorry you refuse to see this.

</font>[/QUOTE]Looking at the Heaven Tract I count the use of 16 Bible passages, with another four referenced. I challange you to get a copy and prove your claim that the comments are nothing more then man's comments and are not clear explanatians of the text used.

16 verses that will NOT return to God void, no matter what you claim because of their use in a tract.

I know people accuse me of being narrow minded, but I think I have found someone even more narrow-minded then me.

No, and I never accused you of anything, I simply ask a question.

I hope not. It does seem, however, that you are seeing an argument with me where none exists.

I have no need to prove myself correct. I choose the Bible over a tract. Now, why don't you answer my question:

If your tract uses as much scripture as you say, then why not just use the Bible? Is there something wrong with your Bible?

    Joseph,

***Edited by Blackbird for offensive language***I see no reason nor point in continuing this discussion with you.

    Your attitude is 100% offensive.

    Have a nice night.

Wow! That was a very insulting personal attack. I think I will report this to the moderators.

It's not my fault that that is how you are coming across.

Why not change how you post?

But go cry to the mods, I have come to expect that from many on here and now it looks like you are added to that list.

Man, in one night my whole opinion of you has changed... I really had you figured wrong.

There is a small segment here who doesn't seem to go crying to the mods over every little thing, and amazingly, they all have one thing in common, but then so do those who are super thin skinned.

I must have somehow entered the kids forum without realizing it, so this should be my last post here unless I find this is a thread for adults.

The way some of you guys talk to each other, the casual reader would have no way of associating "Baptist" with "Christian".

We use signs, tracts and the Holy Bible. Our signs/pics are a call to repentance and can be backed up with the Bible; many are exact quotes from the Bible. We carry tracts to pass out to casual inquirers and keep a Bible on hand to give away to those who don't have one. I've also found the complete Bible is better to witness with than just the N.T.

Something Joseph said caught my eye: "most people who get their ears tickled do leave with a smile on their face." We have a group of "counter-protesters"(as they call themselves) across the road from us in one area. Their signs say "God loves you" or "Got Jesus" or similar. They think our signs are "too hard". Someone from their side told us that they wanted the folks to know that God loves them just the way they are, even tho' they're a hellbound sodomite or baby-murderer, fornicator or adulterer, etc. Yes, "too bad that they are still leaving without the Word of God and without any conviction of sin."

Jim is right Joseph, for some reason you are just looking to attack and argue with everyone. With the attitude you portray, don't bother using a tract or your Bible, God will not honor a Christian with an attitude like you have. ***Offense removed by Blackbird*****
