Actually, brewer's yeast is what they use as the base ingredient of vegemite and marmite..........the left over yeast.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I never thought of pnt butter and jelly as a spread for other things, except maybe potato chips. I've never had that but I know people who have made pb and jelly sandwiches with potato chips in them.

"All of the above?" I would hope not!

Brewer's yeast is different - I have tried using it the same way as nutritional yeast. It's not quite as good but not bad, either.

The name "vegemite" would probably never fly here. I was in London several years ago and got a cheese sandwich from a man selling them in a vendor's cart by the Thames. He asked me if I wanted "brown sauce" on the sandwich. I thought maybe he was joking, having never heard of it, and asked him if it was really called "brown sauce." In answer, he lifted up a large container that had the words "Brown Sauce" printed on it.

I told him no one over here would buy anything called Brown Sauce!

It is a brown sauce from England..vinegar, water, glucose-fructose, blackstrao molasses, tomato puree, dates, dry starch, salt, concentrated apple juice, garlic, chili pepper, mustard, flour and corn syrup.....

It is brown in colour, sharp to taste and called HP Sauce , HP stands for House of Parliament. At one time it was approved by the House of Parliament.

    Cheers,

    Jim
