NBC like the other networks have always had a leftist slant on the news they cover. NBC has been even more so. For example, they dedicated lots & lots of coverage of the murdered abortion doctor, which is news worthy. However, they didn't even hardly give any coverage to the terrorist attack on an Arkansas Army recruiting office. Furthermore, NBC is notorious for leaving out facts or even twisting them. Shortly after Dr. Tiller was murdered, one of thier shows said that Bill O'Reilly was responsible for his murder.

I have gotten sick & tired of NBC's way of reporting the news. I wrote a letter to Jeffrey Immelt, who owns NBC explaining that perhaps if his network were to report all of the facts (and not leave them out of the story) & not just opinions, that maybe his network's news ratings would be much higher. I went on to say that if things won't change I will take action. My first action is that I have officially decided to boycott all NBC news programs & boycott all General Electric products. My next step will boycotting NBC altogether (its not like they have anything on worth watching now anyways).

I know that a 1-man boycott won't do much. Getting the word out to everyone else will. I also went on & stated that if he refuses to make changes that my boycotting may make me miserable, but I will be happy knowing that I'm hitting him in his pocketbook.

    That's my take on it.

Do you also write to Rupert Murdoch about the slanted reporting on Fox News Channel?

Examples? The entire network is an example. I'll admit that NBC tends to lean left. Can you fess up about FNC? They are a propaganda machine for the GOP. Even their line up show this. Hannity, Huckabee, etc. They kept poor Alan Colmes, their token liberal, on such a short leash that he finally wised up and left.

Of course, FNC is conservative. It is just as conservative as MSNBC is liberal with Olberman and Maddow.

The difference is that CBS, ABC and NBC basically have the same political slant while FNC stands alone. And, btw, still slams MSNBC in the ratings.

As for Murdoch, he is a man driven by ratings and the $$$$ those ratings bring in. He saw a niche that wasn't being filled and filled it.

You mean you don't have specific examples? Common, you gotta do better than that. I gave you my specific reason why I don't like NBC. I will admit to you that FNC is known for presenting all of the facts on a story.

NBC tends to leave facts out. Maybe they feel like their viewers / listeners can't handle all of the facts regarding a news story. Maybe they like creating their own headlines, who knows?

On the contrary, Alan Colmes hasn't left the Fox Network. He is a Fox News contributor. He makes regular appearances with other liberal panelists on O'Reilly Factor. O'Reilly's show is cool because people sometimes get into heated exchanges on his show, especially when O'Reilly presses them.

While I like & respect Mike Huckabee, I'm not too crazy about his show. I don't like the idea of having an audience on a news program. Plus he's too soft spoken on a lot of issues. He'll stand his ground, but its like he's afraid to get dirty.

There is no doubt in my mind that Sean Hannity is a conservative. I don't watch his show as often as I'd like to (mostly because of wrestling on Monday & Thursday nights). I will generally watch his show if he is going to be addressing a topic or an issue that interests me.

I wish Glenn Back's show was in place of Greta Van Susteren's. Glenn Beck incidentally is not a Republican, he's a Libertarian. Even he makes more sense than Keith Olberman.

Just go over to YouTube and search on Fox News Bias. You won't have time to watch them all. How anyone, even a hard core rightie can deny the bias is amazing. But it is what I expect.

Fox News is not conservative. They have a Catholic bias, perhaps, but there are no conservative T.V. news channels. Glenn Beck is pretty conservative. The "Red Eye" show, late night is also right on, but Shepherd Smith is a big lib, and O'Reilly is all over the place, Hannity is the same.

Back to the O/P, I can only take Olbermoron and the reprobate Rachel Maddow in short bits, they are the worst, most biased reporters is history. Olbermann wouldn't even have a show without Rush.

Here's a prime example. Note, clip uses the "w" word commonly shortened to "ho", but it is evenhanded with Fox and MSNBC's biases. From The Daily Show. Also, the word in question is in our KJV bibles.

I lost all respect for NBC when they decided to shove explosives up the tailpipe of a pickup truck and then do an "expose" claiming that that make had a design flaw that caused it to blow up.

Nothing I've seen since then has changed my opinion of them.

On the other hand, it's refreshing to know that Tom Brokaw has criticized the leftward slant of NBC sister organization, MSNBC and that NBC's news division is seeking to distance itself from MSNBC.

Doesn't mean they're not still liberals, but at least they're disavowing some of the journalistic quackery that goes on over there.

The difference, of course, is that nobody ever claimed that Hannity, Huckabee, et al, were journalists or were news programs. They're commentary programs. Comentary, by it's very definition, means that the commentator has an opinion.

The problem is that none of the YouTube clips show any examples that the reporting is biased, only that FOX has conservative commentators.

So you would argue that a liberal commentary on the news by NBC would not mean that nBC is liberal?

Freedom beat me to the punch, but he is right. Olbermann, Maddow, Shultz, et. al. are commentators. However, there is more to it than that on Fox. They have been caught many times doing selective edits to slant the NEWS. There is bias in all reporting, but Fox has been run by GOP operatives from the "git go", e.g. Roger Ailes.

I never said that it wasn't liberal or that FOX isn't conservative. What I said is that there is a difference between journalism and commentary.

Could you please give a couple of examples of these "selective edits to slant the news"?

I quit watching network news 30-40 years ago because of their bias! I understand it has gotten worse!

The bias is so obvious I don't see how anyone can miss it.

Has any major network reporter asked Obama a single tough question in either the campaign or since???

How much coverage was done of the April 15th "Tea Parties". How much interpretation was added to the little that might have been shown?

Why is it that the press was able to dictate the Republican primary as well as the general election through slanted reporting? Things like calling McCain the front runner when he was still a distant 2nd to try to sway the turnout. Praising Obama at every turn while criticizing McCain during the general campaign. There are other examples, these are just a couple of pertinent points.

How much gets reported of what Obama has been doing since being elected? How much do you know about Sotomayer? Why aren't major events getting reported accurately?

Fox leans toward conservative commentators - that is the entertainment portion of their programming. The news anchors are first class and don't tailor the news and certainly don't interpret it. CBS, NBC and ABC all edit the news and interpret it for the masses. A sad state to be in.

You hit dead on with those points.

I especially thought it was revolting how when NBC covered the Tea Parties, they used a bad name to refer to those who were protesting. I won't mention it for obviouis reasons. One person, who was against the nationwide protest, called everyone racists for protesting the taxes. NBC who covered this didn't even bother to press her as to why she thought everyone involved in the protest was racist. I'd like to know how a person is considered to be a racist if they oppose being taxed to death.
