Question raised on another thread has got me thinking. Worship to me is always corporate. Devotion is personal. Dichotomy.

But is this true? Is there any Scriptural support for that division between corporate and personal worship?

It ties much to music (hence putting it here on this Forum) but maybe belongs in the Theology section.

    Thanks.

I don't believe is just music (obviously). Worship is more than just a song. But Bro. Dr. Bob, this is an interesting thought... I'll seek out some Scripture and let you know if I find some. I'm also interested in what some others have to say on this subject. Thanks for bringing it up!

Romans 13 says that our acts of worship are offering ourselves completely to God. This would seem to be an individual decision, thus an individual act of worship. Many of the psalms, such as the 86th, are individual prayers of worship to God.

So I would say that worship can be done corporately and personally. I enjoy listening to praise and worship songs in the car - That's one of the best places for me to truly worship!

I've heard the phrases personal worship and corporate worship. I'm not sure that there is a difference between devotion and worship.

I think that part of my devotion to God is the act of worshiping Him. When I please God and obey His Word I am showing my devotion to Him, and so am pleasing Him which is worship.
