When you have something which you like then do you also get obsessed with hypothetical questions like: Would you give this up for God?
I get obsessed with such questions and it's simply terrible. :tear:
For example if God asked you to gain 100lbs of fat would you do it? Or would you say no?
The worst thing is that I don't know if these questions are from me or from God. How do I know if God wants me to do something or if it's just my own obessive thoughts?

    It isn't God.

But how do I know? What if it is God who wants to test me and see what I would give up for him and what not?
But what's stupid about this is that as soon as I find something which I like I get these thoughts and feel as if God wants to take it away from me.
Maybe God doesn't like it when I have something which I like or maybe he is jealous. I don't know, but this leads to me feeling guilty. I simply never know what God thinks about me this is stupid.

Yes you seem to do that. But do you also go on to choose to indulge your obsessions?

    You need self discipline.

It comes from spending time "praying THROUGH" the Word of God. Start with a daily practice of praying THROUGH the chapter in Proverb that matches the day of the month EVERY month.

Don't simply read the chapter - pray through it. Short prayers with each vs.

God will teach you self-discipline of the mind. He will give you the power to control your mind.

2Cor 10:4 "Taking every THOUGHT captive to the obedience of Christ".

It is the power of God alone that can do this - not the will of man.

It does no good to simply talk without end about water - at some point you have to DRINK. And then having drunk you can not simply say "Yes - I did drink water once... " and then revert back to simply talking.

    In Christ,

    Bob

But how do I know if a thought is from God or only from myself?
How am I supposed to know the difference? If I start obeying all my thoughts then I'm a slave to my thoughts and I will get the weirdest thoughts and think that it's God.

All of the thoughts that you have expressed on this board over the past year or so have without a doubt come from you and not God, because all your thoughts are totally self-centered. How many thoughts do have about pleasing God or helping others? If you don't take the focus off yourself you will be miserable the rest of your life.
Get involved in a church. Reach out to others. Help your family and friends. Ask God what you can do for Him instead of what He can do for you.

Thanks for making me feel bad. I guess I'll have to become a missionary and go to Africa in order to be happy....

You asked, I answered. Sorry you didn't like the answer, but that's what I see.
It really doesn't matter what we say because you aren't going to listen anyway. Your most used phrase is...'this does not help'. Not one time have you ever said 'thanks, I'll try that'.

    Proverbs
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
But he who heeds counsel is wise.

How is it wrong? But, you don't have to listen to me anyway. There have been many, many others that have given you GOOD advice, but you refused it too. You will find nothing unbiblical about my counsel to you. But, whatever. Listen or don't listen. It's your decision.

Why on earth would anybody ever believe that God wanted them to do that? What good could possibly come from it?

Simply as a test to see if you would do it for Him.

God also asked Abraham to sacrifice his son.

So you're comparing yourself to Abraham ?

You've been given godly counsel, use it, or not. Don't try and make people feel bad for trying to help.

    I'm not.

Do you never have thoughts like "What if you had a dying relative and you could make the person live 1 day or 1 month or 1 year longer by selling your house, would you do it?"

Welcome to another episode of "pile on xdx." People, you aren't helping.

xdx, the only thing I can say is "relax." I've been in Christian counseling before to help me deal with codependency issues, so I can confidently recommend finding and speaking with a Christian counselor who can help you control your obsessive thoughts.

You are not a bad person, nor are you "missing" the call of God somehow. Give yourself some credit, OK? Find someone you can talk to face-to-face. And try not to feel bad about enjoying the things that God has created for our enjoyment.
