I never said that was the case - I only said IMHO they are not real clear and the message could be mis-taken there. It is only a small thing, but I think they need to extra careful with all the folks out there looking to find a reason to criticise CCM

I understand what you are saying...

But think about this.. people are going to critisize everything we do for Christ anyway. And Christ is the only one we have to please..

And people that don't like CCM will find problems with any CCM song.. just because they don't like it...

But I understand what you are saying, we have to be careful when we are in the public eye to not say anything to feed the critics...

BTW, wasn't Mark a member here a long time ago before they became well known? For some reason I thought he was.

I'll be honest with you. I can see myself 10 or so years ago jumping on something like this as proof of the weakness of CCM and a group like CC. Doing so I would have to ignore the message of East to West, The Altar and the Door, Here I Am, Stained Glass Masquerade, etc, etc.

How foolish we can be in our misdirected zeal :(.

    Batman vs. Joker

Actually, when I first saw this thread, all I could think of was the line of the Joker in the first Batman movie about the city needing an ...

P.M. me and I will finish the quote, I don't want to offend the overly sensitive.

    Music Critics

One of these days, those people are going to have to do this same thing with Contemporary Music as they are going to have to do about the scriptures in new translations. They are going to have to simply accept it. Just as they will have to simply accept that God's Word is still God's Word in a different translation.

But why not help them accept it by being extra scrupulous when writing it and watch out for the little mole hills that people may turn into mountains.

There should not be a blanket acceptance of CCM any more than should be a blanket acceptance of new translations. Each is open to examination and scrutiny. The same is true with old hymns and old translations.

    Musical Thoughts

Maybe I should clarify a little bit. There is some CCM that is great radio music and good general jammin' music. That stuff simply falls into personal taste. However, the music I refer to as Contemporary Music is, in my mind at least, reserved for and appropriate to worship services. My bad for not being clearer.

The problem with Contemporary Music is that everyone gets hung up on the music part and is ignorant in the lyrical part. Some where we have this ignorant idea that the combination of chords and notes define the words and thus, we will accept just about any wording that sounds like the way we think, backwards. Don't get me wrong, I love Southern Gospel and traditional music very much, but there is some serious problems with as much of that style as many accuse the Contemporary of having.
