    Our nation has just elected our first "African-American" President. With that in mind it would be interesting to note that if you were elected POTUS what type of hyphenated American would you be? And would you be the first of your hyphenated type?

    For example;
    I would possibly be the first Scottish-Irish-Welsh-Anglo-Saxon-German-Jew- American, President. :thumbs: :godisgood:

    This thread is in jest Reformer. I consider myself absolutely 100% American. However as a take from Salty's thread it would be humorous to note just how the press would announce you to the world if your were the first American of your type elected POTUS. :smilewinkgrin:

    I would be a French-German-AMERICAN, but I would have to go back to the 1600's to get to some of that.

    There's probably some other countries in my background but I don't know what it is.

    The French hald did spend about one generation in England.

    In that case I am a Mutt-American.
    In fact, I said in a race relations class once, and someone said it offended them!

    I would be another "Mutt-American", since I have French, Scottish, Irish, German, and who knows what else in me.

    Any Cagle family members out there? I am descended from one Friedreich Kegler, who came to the New World in the early 1600s, and from whom many (if not all) American Cagles descended. This is my maternal grandmother's family.

    Add to that the Simmons side, who can be traced back to one Captain Charles Simmons, listed as a Patriot in the late 1700s, in Virginia. This is my maternal grandfather's side. I was the son of an adopted man, and have no knowledge or record of HIS heritage (to the loss of those who would like to know more). Mix in the many other parts of the family(Foster, Denham, Mayes, Burns, etc), and I can claim that I am a true MUTT! :laugh:

    I am 100% AMERICAN, but I have a German, English ancestry (95% German).

    I have a stupid question...

    How can Obama call himself an African-American if he was born in Hawaii?

    Inquiring minds want to know... LOL

    1/2 German, 1/4 Pennsylvania Dutch, and 1/4 mixed UK. But since the PA Dutch is basically German, I identify as German-American, lest anyone think I'm Amish.
