I am a Southern Higland Applachian Ridge Running Hill William Western Homesteading Montana Buffalo Hunter.

Both sides of my ancestors came to the New World in the 1600 and only the God Lord knows all the bloodlines that flow through me. I have had ancestors in ever war ever fought in this country ... don't know about in the Old World. I know of ancestors from England, Wales, Scotland, Germany, Austria, France ... beyond that only the Good Lord knows.

    Scotch-Irish-English American.

However if one of my kids became POTUS, he or she would be the first Cuban American President.

Suppose Don Smith was born (1863) in Mississippi. In 1912 he ran for President. Would he be the first Confederate-American President?:BangHead:

Actually, the US never recognised the CSA as a sovereign state. Instead they saw the states as US states in rebellion. He would have been a natural born citizen.

You are correct Roger, yet my response was a facetious one. That is why I utilized the dumb looking smiley.

I believe I am the following: 2nd born generation American - grandchild of immigrants: 50% Russian (having mixtures within that), 25% Irish, 19% Jewish, 6% English. Percentages are subject to margin of error
Pretty muttly, eh? :D But that wouldn't matter much, cause I'd be the first woman president! (No thanks...)

Why did they have so much difficulty when Barry Goldwater was running for president? He was born in Arizona before Arizona was a state. Some tried to have him disqualified.

Oh, I am a North American by choice and have the paper to prove it. English by birth, however, and a citizen of the world.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Well first up I aint American at all but having recently left the Great South Land to live in the Shakey Isles of New Zealand I was astounded at the forms that wanted to nail down ethnicity... I apparently am a European Other which is amusing seeing I havent ever been thair.....I put myself down as Homo Sapien, I dont give a donkey what colour you are or what country you came from....if you live in a new place, you abide by the rules of that place, if you dont like it go home. If I like you or dont like you it is because of your personality and dont give me that muling pap that the political correct nazis go on about

That post might read a bit aggressive but it is not intended as such, but oh my cotton socks I am tired of all that hoopla....you scratch anyone deeper enough then you will find they came from somewhere other in their ancestry.

My people have been here since the 1600's on both sides. I am Scottish, Irish, English, Swedish, German, and American Indian (Cherokee). I guess that's pretty typical for people in the Appalachian region of the country. So I'm an American Mutt, too. :)

Is not Obama the first bi-racial President?? I don't get the African-American bit either. I am an American of 100% Italian ethnicity.
