    I was an Episcopalian. One day when I was 14 my ministers son asked me if I wanted to check out a really cool church. We went to a baptist church in Laconia NH on a Wednesday night. Man could that man preach! I got saved 34 yrs ago. I went charasmatic for a couple of years till I was shown the light and became a INDY FUNDY Baptist.

    Born and raised in the same Baptist Church I still attend and minister in. Made my decision for Christ at age 7, and the deacons (so I am told) couldn't deny me. I do remember understanding everything perfectly, and how looking at the picture of the crucifixion in my pastor's class book making me cry. I also remember flailing in the baptismal pool because I couldn't swim, and hated having my face under water! Didn't think of that, though, until I hit the water. Kicked the poor pastor in the tummy!

    I was Catholic for 23 years. After leaving the Catholic church my husband and I tried Pentecostal for a while. We had a strange experience at a revival and never went back. You just know when God is telling you something is wrong and to get out of there so that's what we did.

    Sent to church on the Sunday school bus the Free Methodist church for a few years . Then I went to a catholic church and studied catechism for two years. Went to a few penecostal church services and got nothing out of it. Was finally baptized as a mormon. Still my soul was empty.I concluded there was no God and gave myself over to athiesm.
    Short of murder I had no sense or morality whatsoever so I broke the rest of the commandments with regularity and gusto.
    I was saved in Feburary 1978 and attended a Southern Baptist church in Augusta Georgia until I moved to Tacoma ,Washington Where I was Baptized by my brother-in-law who was pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.

    To put to rest all those lies about Republicans being rich business men :D My Dad was a poor share-cropper with 8 kids but he voted Republican all his life. I am ashamed to say I voted Democrat once. Got stung bad on that one. He was a crook. [IMG]

    Yup scarred me for life :D

    By the time I was saved, I sadly ;) had developed a fascination with Christian art and denominations that displayed it in their churches.
    High Church kids have it easy, they at least get to stare at the, fresco's, secco's, statues and glass in lead windows when the sermons get boring.
    I've never had the urge to switch to another church, but it certainly influenced the subjects I chose during my university years.

    I grew up in South Louisiana where there are more catholics than people...so i was christened in the RCC and went thru my first communion. I stopped attending church regularly a couple of years later (parents were divorced and didn't go, and my oldest brother who took us to mass was now in the Air Force). Stopped attending cathecism after 6th grade when i could no longer attend prior to school in the mornings.

    Unchurched until 12, went to my first baptist church...independent baptists, really scared me, lol. In and out for a couple of years, they had a bus ministry.

    Began attending SBC church with my best friend at around 16, but didn't accept Christ until i was 18.

    And now...pastoring a SBC church. God is good!

    I was partially raised in a SBC and an ABC. (Anonymous Baptist Church! LOL) I "went forward" and was baptised at about 8. The family quit going to church when I was about 12. I attended my grandfathers Missionary church when about 13-14. Went "forward" again. Never really was regular in attendance. Got truly saved in a UPC church when I was 20. Left that junk when I discovered they could not Scripturally justify their "tongues/babbling". Wandered spiritually inot SDA and WWCoG. (Worldwide Chuch of God.) Then seriously wandered until landing in prison in 1991. Met some great guys from a local IFB from Boise. Paroled, tried out a SBC (too many committees!) then went to a different IFB in the town I paroled to. Moved back home to the Boise valley, and have been IFB since. Currently working at getting totally debt-free in order to return home to the Boise valley in Idaho.

    At times, I feel like the Israelites must have during all their wanderings. I am HOME now in IFB churches. You could say I was a lost child in an SBC environment until I became an adult, then I wandered looking for ANYPLACE that taught the plain Scriptures w/o inserting a bunch of "private interpretations".

    In HIS service;
    Jim

    Catholic. But I think LOST is what more accurately describes what I was. Praise God I was saved and then joined a Baptist Church.
