    Hey Luke sometimes during your "discussion" I'm glad you are in Mississippi and John is in Japan. If you weren't we would need boxing gloves and the Rules would be the Marquess of Queensberry Rules !!!!LOL:eek::rolleyes:

    That's funny:smilewinkgrin::thumbs:

    Sometimes is gets heated on both sides. But heat is the result of friction which is what is produced when iron sharpens iron.

    BTW, we couldn't box- I am way above his weight class!:smilewinkgrin:

    Well said. Some seem to believe that Christian character stops when you get in an Internet debate, and if someone is offended that's their tough luck. (I'm not thinking of anyone in particular.)

    The Fallacy of "ad-hominem"

    This persons view of ad-hominem, may shine new light on the term and the reason ad-hominem should not be used on Christian forums.

    In my opinion, ad hominem is an excuse to rip into the other person, to put them on the defensive, and almost always causing them to resort to a lower form of ad-hominem, which makes their initial argument and post lost in the process of ugliness.

    Let's stop these underhanded debate techniques and get back to the Christian principles and standards this board was built around and for.

    That website is EXACTLY what ad hominem is. And I oppose it vehemently as it is the enemy of what I do this for- getting down to the nitty gritty truth of a matter.

    Saying an argument is bologna and proving it is not ad hominem.

    Saying a person lacks Christian character- that is ad hominem.

    Naw, Luke and I would go with MMA rules. He likes old man Randy Couture, but I'll bet I could show him a few moves Couture doesn't know. [IMG]

    Randy is cool but I'm a fan of Gracie-Killer Sakuraba. Made Royce look silly!

    Yea a little- a very little Judo and a few "private" lessons in Jiu Jitsu.

    But mainly I came up fighting in the school yard and in my neighborhood and wrestling my buds practicing the things we observed on UFC.

    Let me tell you, Brother John, you stand a lot better chance whipping me in this debate than whipping me in a fight- and I don't think you really stand a very good chance in the former.

    Lesnar went down. The bigger they are.... :tongue3:

    I started with catch-as-catch-can wrestling (the foundation of Japanese MMA through Karl Gotch) in 1966, went into various Asian arts for the next 40 years. Let's meet in Hawaii for the big fight--on the beach--with parasols.
