What do you think of Christians moving to South Carolina to secede from the Union?
Secession was treason when it was tried 145 years ago – it didn't turn out well for the traitors
It sounds like the beginnings of a cult to me
Jesus said Christians were supposed to be in the world but not of it – I don't think he meant for us to secede
If this idea ever catches on, the statists will crush it
It's an appealing idea but I don't think it will work
    It's their constitutional right
At least they're doing something – most conservatives just complain about the liberals
It may be premature now, but their small efforts today could pave the way for unknown changes later
It's strategically smart and constitutionally valid – the idea should be pursued

If given an opportunity to secede from this ungodly federal government, I would do it in a heartbeat. The only reason the South lost the war is because we were too nice. General Robert E. Lee was a godly devout Christian.

Compare his life with that of Sherman:

Tis not true the good guys always win.

Great! All we need is another 'civil' war!

Move over, Jim Jones... It's taken this 'cult' several years to get only 700 members. I don't see this as a successful 'exodus'.

People have always moved south, especially as they get older, to escape the cold weather up north and to take advantage of lower taxes, housing, etc. This is nothing new.

It is VERY hard for me to accept the fact that civilized people are still fighting a war that was over so many years ago. :(

The last I heard, SC was still under the jurisdiction of the USA...

So are we, as Christian brothers and sisters in Christ, going to fight just because we happened to be born in the North or the South? [IMG]

If things got so bad in this country that I felt the need to throw in the towel I'd just move my family to a small island nation in the middle of the Pacific. That's kind been a dream of mine since high school anyway.

That would be a move north for me.

Besides, I bet that most Texans would secede if it came up for a vote.

If the southern states were to secede today, I have much doubt that the northern states would be able to muster the numbers that they were in the 1860's. We would probably win.

Of course, for the time being, I would rather try to work on this country to make it better. Secession is a last resort.

I believe there is another civil war coming, but it won't be along the previous North v South lines.

You're correct. It will be against the political right. Christians will be bundled into the package. I predict full out war by 2008.

There already is a group of nuts that think they have re-established the Republic of Texas:

    http://www.republic-of-texas.net/index2.shtml

Looks like they want to include the original borders, including the Oklahoma panhandle, half of New Mexico, and parts of Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming.

This country is to big. It is unnecessary and inefficient. I suggest 4 nations. West of the Rockies, from the Rockies to the Mississippi, and the old Mason-Dixon line.
