Heard a minister say one time: "All scripture is true....but all scripture isn't a statement of truth".

    Gives you something to ponder at times.

    It would depend on the context with which that statement was made.

    I speak constantly on and off this board privately. Do you actually think you have the right to know what I say? You and Mr. Bush should form a new country or something.

    Who are you? Do you really think I talk about you? And if I do, do you think I shouldn't do so privately. I would gladly say to your face what I would say about you, which is nothing.

    But if you called me a coward or a sissy to my face, I can guarantee you I would be less than Chirstian in response.

    It is amazing that some here find it appropriate to say things openly that they wouldn't dare say to someone's face for fear of being punched. The internet is not a open invitation for you to be rude, judgemental and hateful.

    Until now, I have easily ignored you because your responses have been predictable and somewhat sophomoric. Hmmm, I guess on that basis, I can still ignore you.

    Now, to the thread. I find it amazing that anyone here has the nerve to put anything said by others in the Bible on par with Christ's words. In case you forgot, before you are a Baptist, you are a Christian. If not, I will glady witness to you.

    Matt's observations are quite estute and though to me, the avoidance of literalism suits Christians better than a Santa Claus mentality. I would not be so presumptuous as to declare all but the RED LETTERS as "non-literal" or even the the RED LETTERS as all "literal". Did Jesus not use hypotheticals constantly to make points. Of course.

    So, IF I called someone a "sissy" or "coward" everytime they did not include me in their private conversations, wouldn't that make me a "childish" person with "low self-esteem".

    DISCLAIMER: The above is strictly HYPOTHETHICAL, and is based solely on my fairytale life. Any similarities to you are purely coincidental and a POSSIBLY a result of self-centered thinking.

    I guess it goes without saying that the Lord said it when Christ said it, since Christ is Lord.

    "You" meaning? I guess I kind of wonder who is the bigger victim, the attacker or the person rebuking them for the attack.

    SB, I wouldn't say that the non-'red letters' are non-literal, just that when there is an apparent contradiction between the revelation of Jesus Christ and a literal interpretation of the 'non-red letters' then the literal interpretation cannot be correct; that does not of course preclude non-contradictory passages being literal

    Well, I'm not a victim. Just an observer.

    BTW, how's the PM gossip going ?

    Just because a person starts a thread does NOT make him/her the dictator of what can or cannot be posted in that thread. This is a PUBLIC forum. If you can't back up what you say scripturally, then keep quiet. We have produced scripture--you ignore them.

    John 5:39: Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me

    DHK pretty much laid out the rules for you--instead of jumping on the Moderators--why not start your own board! [IMG]
    </font>
I don't dictate this thread. But I have been told "I have no right" to be here. Let's not twist my words yet again in that regard.

    Who moderates the moderators? Oh, God... no, the Webmaster. At the invitation of the webmaster, this is our forum of free speech within the rules specified and agreed upon. When the moderators break the rules, all have the right to mention it.

    That's none of your business, is it? But for your information, I have never suggested that i talk about the people on this thread. I have simply said I have very frutiful PM's as do we all with some people who are very afraid to post because so many here attack so viciously.

    Christ has private conversations too. Did the disciples call him a "sissy" or "Coward" for doing so.

    Superbaptist, I never called you any name, except a troll, which I stand by. You seem to be here for the sole purpose of spreading discord.

    And don't PM me anymore, I won't read them.

    Matt, I was not suggesting you had made such an assumption. Others assume I have.

    For the record, do not PM me to talk about other people. I use them only to discuss ideas and to share things of a personal nature. I am not here to put on a show. Anyone who is afraid of the hatefulness of some on this board, feel free to PM. It is what they are for.

    </font>
That is an excellent question. And I guess I would tend to believe one of 2 things, 1) If someone who had said their "own" opinion, followed by the statement, "Thus saith the Lord," just to sound official or unquestionable, that would be kind of sleasy. 2) If it were, in fact "delivered to them" and they had been order by God to "Deliver" it to us, then that would be on par with the Words of Christ.

    I have said it before and I will say it again; not everything I read in the FINAL published version of the Bible have I competely digested or accepted as infallible. But last I checked, that was not one of the requirements for salvation, so I guess I won't get struck by lightning.
