    Gang, what's going on?

In the last week, there seems to have been a surge in ugly, condescending, or even obscene posts.

What's going on? There's always a few "fireworks" here, but it seems that a few posters are only interested in being rude or mean to folks. Starting trouble where none exists. Blantant and repeated name-calling. Posts with profanity. (sorry...one asterisk in place of a vowel? still profanity. no place for it here).

I'm reporting posts (as I'm sure others are)...but good gracious, people. Let's be adults...Christian ones at that. It's one thing, to disagree...and I (as well as many here) have had to go back, apologize, eat crow, etc. I'm trying to learn a lesson, I promise.

But I get the distinct impression that a few of you here enjoy conflict and relish the animosity. That's not healthy. And a few folks are simply not behaving in a Christlike manner. Let's remember that this forum is accessible by anyone...saved folk and lost folk alike.

How 'bout let's all strive to be Christlike and grownups?

(now...that's a month's worth of serious posting for me. Please expect a rash of Unrelated Hijacked Humorous Posts (UHHP) from me). :D

rbell, I agree. I just made a post in another thread that two noobies to the board have sown more discord than I have ever seen with their profane and over the top postings.

FTR, I'm sure some of my recent posts have come off as on the rude side, and I do apologize for that. Unfortunately, and this is not an excuse, there happen to be two threads going at one time that Satan knows really gets under my skin. If I've offended anyone I'm sorry.

I'm actually glad I will be away from the BB for a while. Some of these threads/posters have left me utterly disgusted, and I'm at my limit. It's time to back out, and bite my tongue.

FP, sometimes we do have to take a break. I understand.

And we all have different "under our skin" threads. What gets to one of us doesn't bother another, and vice versa.

There are other Christian boards that pretty much let anything go. Frankly, I like the BB because they handle problematic posts. But that's just me...others might like the "Wild West."

The BB has always been problematic for me. I tend to get cuaght up in the heat of the debate and make comments that do not glorify Christ. That (and a lack of time) have caused me to keep my distance for a time.

But as much as we may step over the line between rude and nice, between fleshly and Christ-honoring, most on here are usually quick to correct and apologize.

I am surprised to find the current tone. I see posts that are very mean spirited and don't seem to have any purpose other than to offend.

I am reporting posts too. I participate in secular forums and see more civil disagreements. The BB should be a place for fellowship and CHRIST-LIKE debates.

This is why I believe that I should be the Baptist pope. It would be so much easier simply to threaten excommunication. :)

My signature line already has my papal name.

Not to mention that I haven't been able to enjoy my new membership in the 3000 post club!

maybe it's the heat...For the 3rd straight day, it was 106 degrees here...heat index of 114.

Most of the ugliness has been confined to just a few folks. But they're posting quite a bit, so it's been all over the place.

I know that there have been some times, I'd come back to a thread a day or three later and think, "Good grief...was I that grumpy?" And I'd have to apologize.

Maybe a few others will come to same realization. Having said that, some might have already crossed too many lines.

It's hot here, too. It was at least 70 today. Lots of sun, too. My wife got a serious sunburn.

It is hot here too, but that is not excuse for telling someone that they obviously don't know how to read and/or comprehend. :0

    My goodness.

That is why WE GOTTA' really think twice about hitting the "submit reply" button before we do it.

There have been a number of times where I have gotten fired up about something, typed up a rambling, you-are-an-idiot response..... read thru it and felt convicted so much so that I deleted all and did not post

And that is the problem with the written word: no voice inflection, no tone, no facial expression, no body language....just cold black and white letters. This was a lesson hard-learned for me. One time, in a business communique I called someone a "goof". It meant it harmlessly, however the person who received it didn't think so.

Thanks, Dr. Bob. I was getting tired of seing the discord and rancor caused by the one action was taken against; but the profanity toward women was the last straw. Debate is one thing, but foul language is over the line.

I like a good, honest debate; but I despise hatefulness. Using scripture to try to justify using profane language was a first, I believe. I guess nothing should surprise me.

    BB is a great place...
    And Satan knows this...

Remember we are not fighting flesh and blood, but evil.
So Satan will try to kill our witness to the world.

Usually I am an easy going guy... sure there are hot topics that push my buttons...but I can usually keep those in tact... But when innocent people are put down, I feel the need to stand up for them.

And if we allow people to come on here on BB and hurt others without us saying something, we are just as bad...
That is why I sometimes take a stand and post back.
Others need to see that there are Christians that will still stand up for righteousness...
Sure the world may see their ugliness... but they will also see Christians standing up against this ugliness.

    So stand, and stand again...
And don't forget the "!" feature.

The mean spiritedness and total lack of concern and respect for other people I have seen displayed on here in recent months is one reason I have not posted as much. I drop by and comment here and there but not like I used to. Some things I read on here absolutely make my blood boil and my husband has to get me to just shut my laptop when I start venting to him about it. There seems to be an abundance of spiritual immaturity with a few people. Perhaps it would do them good to log off and get in The Word and spend some time with God to get their minds thinking clearly before they get back on here and start firing off at good people that are simply here for good Christian fellowship and debate.

Of course...this is just my opinion. :)

I thought the exact same thing last night when I shut down the computer and went to bed! Sometimes I think we have a few wolves in sheep's clothing lurking around for the sake of trolling. . .

I would like to post this. Mr. Creech, made a rmark which greatly offended me. He also apologized instantly, and I want that made clear. He further apologized in a PM. He demonstrated to me what kind of man he really is, and will be a much better leader somewhere in the future. He has demonsrated his willingness to mature in the Lord, and, afterall, isn't that what the Christian life is all about?

God bless him richly, and lead him on to great service. I shall be pleased to communicate with him at any time, and I trust you will all do the same.

    Cheers,

    Jim
