    Helen,

Have you ever read the Epistle to the Hebrews in the Greek text? There is no period where you falsely allege that there is.

We HAVE the Greek text here. The period is there.

That seems to be a bit of a cop out!

You dismiss a complex issue too readily! Normally I would assume that such dogmatism reflects a lack of understanding of the issue. I know that is not the case with you. So why so evasive?

Heb 6:4-6 cannot simply be "explained away". But it must be properly contextualized. The author is not being asked whether or not salvation can be lost. Consequently he is NOT answering THAT question here. The question of whether or not one can lose salvation is best approached by looking at what salvation IS. And does Jesus ever mention any sin so great that one could not subsequently be saved? It seems that only denying the work of the Spirit can be so devastating. How can one indwelled with the Spirit blaspheme the Spirit?

As with many theological questions there is not a clear cut answer. If one disagrees with another then he/she should do so in a scholarly and polite manner, not dismissing the other's position.
