Wasn't Nicaea later.... they had a few of those councils.

Go back to the 16th & 17th centuries & the Protestants, particularly the Presbyterians had a good grasp on Arian thinking. I was told thats why the Westlys (sic) & Whitefield started with the Methodist movement (but I wasn't there & I am not related)

The First Council of Nicaea was in 325 and that was the one which (kind of) prohibited Arianism. The Second Council of Nicaea was in 787 and was to do with the permissibility of rendering doulia to icons.

The whole Arian thing was that Arius an Alexandrian Priest was gaining prominance by saying (and making hit songs) about there was a time when Jesus was not. After preaching
. He emphasized the Oneness of God and people really took to it. However, like the modern JW they believed that Jesus was created.

Yes, but arianism "resurfaced" under Eusebius of Nicomedia. He made an all out attempt to depose all bishops who were in agreement with him, although he met his match in his "theatrical" attempts to unseat Athanasius of Alexandria.

That was why I said 'kind of'; Arianism was only really defeated with the First Council of Constantinople in 381.

I can play the part. Keep your romanish popery damnable heretical histories to yourself! The true body of Christ never went wrong. Lucifer decieved many in the early years and through his church in Rome has attempted to quite the true gospel of Christ. Satan was at work in the days of the Apostles but gained a victory with his Emperor Constantine who he used to subvert any trace of the true gospel of Christ by establishing pegan methodolgy of works into the practices of the churchs in Rome. Because of their apostate heretical evil "God gave them over to their evil desires" and Lucifer now reigns in the great whore of Romanism. His servant the anti christ damnably wears the title the vicar of Christ.

    how was that?
