Or, one could check out the Bible, and just skip the extra-biblical stuff mentioned...

I guess I'll have to inform our pastors this morning that we are either not fundamentalists, not successful, or not both as we are KJV only. I'm sure this will surprise them considering the "apparent" success we've had over the years, but hopefully the will see the light and change over to the NIV. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
    I doubt it.

So you say the Bible is infallible? Which one? It seems your biggest hit against the KJV is the Old English (which is far superior to the modern English in conveying meaning by the way). If both the KJV and NIV are the infallible word of God, How do you account for the many missing verses and words as well as modified meaning of many verses? The name Jesus alone is removed from the NIV many times. Why would you remove the name of Jesus in a Bible?

We have a forum for discussion of versions, this is not that forum.

May we stick to the topic at hand, please?

Some of us "take a break" occasionally, but I'd say we're all around here somewhere.

Maybe check out "Theology" and "General."

As to KJV-NIV, I just joined a "NIV church" when I got all my notes in my KJV! :tonofbricks: Gotta say it's a "bummer!"

Some of us just like to read the posts and laugh alot. The arguments go in circles - round and round, and usually ending with someone losing their Christian testimony by name calling and personal attack.

Remember that Fundamentalism is about the fundamental doctines of the Bible NOT the fundamental doctrines of men.

I was just thinking today how long it would take me to put all my notes from the various Bibles I've used over the years into my nice new parallel Bible. I don't think it's going to happen.

Thats kind of how I feel, I mean I suppose that the 1200 or so people who will be there Sunday morning, Or the 6000+ who claimed to get saved on our campus this past year wouldn't be a good measuring stick for success. Unless of course you consider the scripture over there in Acts where God said that he would add to "...the Church daily such as should be saved...." No, your right, the KJV is to archaic to still be affective today. I hope that preacher can take it when I educate him on the subject.

"...and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved...."NIV

    Grace V.S. Works?
Ekklesia = their number????? Some how that doesn't sound right.

Some how when you say that "we" believe in the inspiration and infallability of scripture when you consider Psalm 12:6&7 and honostly look at the work of translation, as well as the fact there are so many different "versions"( By the way doesn't "version" imply that the story is changed?) I think that it naturally suggests that there can only be one that this applies to. So I might also add Preservation to that list.

If you disagree that is your perogative. I don't have to answer for you.

None the less when you add preservation to the list you will thin the "Funnymentalcases" considerably but they are still here.
