I was pointing out that Spurgeon used a word that at one time was acceptable and is not now. But he did smoke cigars and drink ale which was acceptable then.

Precepts: "So why would anyone be offended by any Bible word that has a public tv and watches today's sitcoms object to the use?"

Because it's wrong. I object to it on TV, or wherever. Sin is sin. Using language, that belongs in bars, in churches is just morally wrong. I don't want my children to hear it, why would I say it in church just because it is in a Bible that contains outdated language?
This is a strong case for a Bible with updated language.
What was acceptable in 1769, is not today.
We should want to hear God's message. but using words like that will detract from what the preacher's message is. It is better to substitute another word, or use any other version besides the KJV when around that scripture.

BTW Precepts, What is a MVonlyist?
    I've yet to meet one.
Most people that use other Bibles besides the KJV know it's a sin to worship a bible.
Strange that only KJVOs are the only ones blinded by this sin.

Wrong is wrong. The word in question is something that Christians typically do not use. I can only wonder what a non-Christian would think when he were to get to that verse. Is not the KJ21 a better rendition here: "So, and more also, do God unto the enemies of David if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that urinates against the wall."

I'm truly afraid of the outcome of this line of reasoning. Those who object to the word "pisseth" are then using the same objectional word "urinates". If the latter quote doesn't just as readily offend you then your ear has been framed to receive the world's influence against Truth, eventually it will be fashioned to be against God altogether. If you are blind to this reality I hope the Lord will open your eyes.

I was told by a "young" man that my son should be used to hearing his filthy, truly filthy, mouth simply becuase he is a plumber's son. I then told the fellow that if I weren't a Christian I would proceed to pull him across the counter and beat the daylights out of him. I simply quit doing my business with hat firm and the salesmen contacted me to find out why I no longer came into their establishment, the "fellow" was then fired.

I am a plumber, and I find "urinates" to be just as offensive and admit it is not a pleasant subject. Yall are just picking on this as a means to defame the Word of God, again, becuase it doesn't tickle your ear just right.

You make it wrong because the world made it wrong, by prejudice.

I would never call a black man "nigger" or use the term "niggardly". I don't smoke cigars or drink ale since I got saved. Spurgeon may have doen that which was acceptable to soviety in his time, but there are many other men of God who chose to absatin from that activity he practiced. I admit Spurgeon has lost some cerdibility because of his indulgence of fleshly satisfaction. I also know he was confronted about it and he rather chose to try and defend his vice contrary to the Word of God.

I have an old friend who told me that he didn't stand a chance with that "Book", meaning the Bible. One day, and it is on the very horizon, this world will considee the very appearnce of anything thast even looks like a Bible to be obscene and taken as offensive.

The question is, will you stand idly by and let the world have dominion over the Word of God?

We, who yall label as "KJVO" took our stand beginning with and before 1611. The induction of mv's is only the evidence of the symptoms of the degradation of the Biblical mandate to preserve the Word of God.

Where will you stand? Will you stand?

Brother Will, I believe we stand exactly right together. Others have even tried to say you may not like me standing with you on the matter. I find that rather subjective on their behalf and error. I thank the Lord for your stand and the info you post.

So then by that statement, the f-word, the s-word, and so on aren't really wrong, since the Bible is silent about that. It's just prejudice? Is that what you're saying? What makes those words different from the "p-word" used in the KJV?

Sorry, sir, I will not make even a reference to such vulgar words, you are cussing in the BB by doing so and have offended anyone who knows what you just said.

English names are simply derived from other languages and are distinctive by those who use them. James is distinctive from Jacob, also Joshua. Names are also given due to certain characteristics.

I have known the Book of james to be the epistle by James the Brother of Christ since a child, now we have the influence of those who try to call it by another name.

Think this thread has more than run its course. Scatalogical references are not and will not be acceptable.

Genteel society decries "vulgarity". What might have been accepted language in 1611 by the AV or in 1860 by Spurgeon is simply not proper today.

Hebrews calls some "bastards" and we all know what that means. But to use that term today would be patently offensive. We can say "people need to be educated and know what bastard or niggardly means", but the reality is, it is as crude and offensive as using some of the 4-letter words.

But this has nothing to do with "James" v "Jacob" v "Joshua".
