Is a Southern Baptist Church or Independent Baptist Church more conservative or Biblically correct? Can you please compare the 2 Baptist denominations by saying specifically in what respects one is more liberal that the other? I'm a conservative Baptist and want to follow God's Biblical principles as closely as I possibly can.

It depends upon the particular church.

In order to better answer your question in detail, please explain what you mean when you say that you are a "conservative" Baptist.

By Conservative Baptist I mean I don't condone bringing sin into the church, ie homosexuals becoming church members, playing rock and roll in church, etc. In otherwords, becoming worldly because the world condones sin. By Conservative, I mean truly doing what God wants us to do by being Separated unto God, rather than bringing our worldliness into the church where it displeases God. Making God and his Word in the Bible the way we conduct ourselves in church. That's what I mean by Conservative Baptist. Though I'm Republican and politically conservative in many respects, I don't mean politically conservative, but conservative by God's pure standards.

The truth is, it totally depends upon the individual church. Southern Baptists and independent Baptists run the whole gammit from liberal to conservative.

IMO, I am an independent Baptist, and would not consider being southern Baptist because of the liberalism in many of the schools and denominational organizations. A suppport of the SBC means supporting liberalism (though there are still conservative churches in the SBC). Being an independent means being free from such liberal support and association ;)

You should find a church that believes and practices like you believe and join it. [IMG]
