Wow - how do you really feel about it?

Both pipe & cigar tobacco can have a wonderful smell and neither are "habits" to anyone I know. Sitting down with a nice cigar & a glass of god port with friends is actually quite enjoyable & relaxing.

    But agree with you cigarettes.

What's this "god port"? Is it some new "heavenly" brand?

He does not teach Christian doctrine, and has taught things against God's word.

Baptist Believer posted some good info back on his post right after your question.

A Freudian slip to be sure. But good port is indeed from above.

    A Tough Choice

Having to choose between Spurgeon and Edwards is a tough decision to be faced with. I enjoy the straightforwrd preaching of Spurgeon, but I also admire the depth of the knowledge of God that Edwards had.

    An Interesting question to ponder.

By the way, Spurgeon gave up smoking in his later years.

Tough choice! It's a tossup between Rick Warren and Brian McLaren, but I think, in choosing between them, I'd go with McLaren. It's a matter of style more than anything else, when there isn't really any other distinguishing factor.

So is wikapedia on the internet the standard for judging truth?
How about going to the website of the ministry itself?

No, but it is well documented, and it is easy to verify the information.

Furthermore, I have followed the Copeland ministries activities off-and-on for years and have known a couple of people on the ministry staff.

Copeland is not terribly shy about his doctrine.

Certainly the Web site can be a good source, but most Web sites for ministries are not actually places that systematically present doctrine and teachings.

Is there something in the Wikipedia article that set you off? Do you need help verifying an allegation?

Not to get off track, but I can vouch for Wikipedia being full of misinformation. I helped my g/son do a report on a school subject. We got most of our information from Wikipedia.

His teacher sent it home and told him to redo it because there was so much in it that wasn't true!!!

    OK...back to the OP.

Not that Wikipedia is the most reliable source, but there are many teachers who don't know diddly.

My son came home and he had "learned" in his health class that statutory rape is when someone 18 or older has intercourse with someone under 18. (I checked the handouts, and that's what they said.)

Well, not that I'm a big fan of fornication, but I'm also not a big fan of lies, so I went to the state web site and d/l'd the law to show him the errors. First of all, there is no statutory rape in Alaska. It's 1st, 2nd, and 4th degree sexual abuse. Second of all, the age of consent without restrictions is 16. Third of all, there are age spreads, and the age spreads and the age of the victim determines which sexual abuse it is.

Also, don't forget the textbook fiasco from a few years back in which one of the major textbook publishers actually had the "fact" that the Korean war was ended with a nuclear device in its history book.

Also, don't forget that most textbooks have now changed the history of the War Between the States. (There has never been a civil war in this nation.)

That's exactly the law in most states.

But, what has that to do with the OP?
