I sell Subarus for a living and own two. Both are Japanese cars, that is, the parts content is 100% Japanese, but one of them was assembled at Subaru's plant in Indiana.

BTW, that Dodge Intrepid you own was probably built in Canada.

Many domestic brands are built in Canada or Mexico (e.g. Ford). My Hyundai was built in Alabama.

I voted America on mine because they are part of the Big 3. One is a Dodge Ram 2500 and my wifes' is a Jeep Cherokee.

The last two "American" cars I owned were built in Canada and Mexico.

My current "Japanese" car was 100% built just outside of Nashville, Tn. So you tell me which one was the "American" car.

I have no problem owning "foreign" cars. I had a Hyundia. There is a difference in your analogy though. The money for Japanese cars go mainly back to Japan( or whatever country the headquarters for a particlular maker is), and the money for "American" made cars mainly stays here or comes back to here.

Couple of Fords (Escort and Expedition) here, but they are old enough to have been made in the USA.

Since I was born and raised in the Detroit area, I always tried to buy a US car brand even though a lot of parts manufacturing is done else where now. But the profits still go to a US company instead of an Asian one.

My personal favorite is Chevy (grandpa was a GM engineer). But now down here, I was limited in what was available. I ended up a Volkswagen model that is only built here in Argentina (though shipped all over the world except the US).

madre has a Buick Roadmaster that was built in Arlington, Texas. Can't miss that fact seeing those Texans saw fit to put a sticker the size of a football touting their accomplishment. My Buick Regal was built in Canada, eh.

I own a Fiat, made in Italy. FIAT is an acrostic for "Fix It Again Tony". Its a piece of scrap, and I can't wait to get rid of it, preferably for a Honda or Toyota (I'm going back to the Japanese).
