My wife is a great source of support. My best friend is a pastor as well, and we feed off of each other. My D.O.M. is a great friend also.
I also immerse myself in the Psalms. Great for a variety of emotions. I also find great comfort going to the writings of Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Spurgeon, McCheyne, etc. I listen to Alistair Begg whose preaching is always a great salve for my wounds.

I go to my friends, the Pings. [IMG] I have 13 of them. They are pretty good company though they don't talk back to me. They let me unwind and get my mind relaxing with something I enjoy doing. I can spend some praying and thinking and come back with a more relaxed perspective.

My wife is a constant source of encouragement and comfort in times of challenge and difficulties in the ministry. While I have gone to other men of God over the years, she is my best friend. ;) I would not be a able to handle the challenge and stress of the ministry without a supportive wife.

PINGS? Sheesh, how much do they pay the preacher in Michigan? Wish I could afford to hang out with the Pings :D Doesn't matter though. I still play lousy with whatever club I have. It's not the tools, it's me

I love my wife dearly, and we rarely have any secrets from each other [save the time when we hide from each other the Christmas or Birthday presents ;)]. She has been a source of strength and help in time of need. We seem to reciprocate the support of each other as needed in a timely fashion. But no one living person can replace the Lord. For when all fails, He never fails. What a Savior we have!

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek, and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. [IMG]

You call the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association? Well, that is interesting. How do they help you?

    Greetings,

Being in ministry is very Unique. It has problems that many other careers/vocations do not have. Because of this, I am part of a minstry support group. We gather once a month for a full day. We eat together, pray together, go around and talk about our situation, but it is great just to have the same people who the same problems. I would encourage all ministers to have a support group.

    peace

    Greetings,

I am sorry, I must apologize. I just read the top of my screen, and it says "baptist only" forum, and I am catholic. I will restrict myself to the other than baptist forum. Sorry for this foray.

    peace

most everyone has said they go to their wife. Saggy, I don't think you have a wife [IMG] - but as I am sure you are aware, ministers must be very guarded about who we confide in. I often go to my piano when I am stressed out. That and a bag of Cooler Ranch Doritos goes a long way!!!

Yes, tatortot, we have to be careful who we go flapping our jaws to. Sometimes, it isn't wise to even go to our spouses, because it can make them resentful.

If I am in an emotional turmoil I go to my mom. If I am in a logical turmoil (can't decide what to do and it's stressing me) I go to my dad. In both cases, I go to my husband. He usually helps a lot and sometimes reccommends talking to one of my parents. I have a really great family. :D
