Was the NKJV, NIV, ESV, ASV, RSV or any other version involved. I just listened to a message by a KJVO preacher that stated if one wasn't saved using the KJV, they weren't saved. It made my blood boil!  I was saved through the ministry of the KJV, but I have an aunt who was saved through the ministry of "Good News For Modern Man", better known now as TEV, I believe.

I led a woman to the Lord using the NASB not too long ago. According to these rabid teachings of some, she is still lost! What think ye all?

AVL1984

Romans 10:9 (HCSB = The Holman Christian Standard Bible)
if you confess with your mouth,
"Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.

Seems if Jesus saved me, it really doesn't
matter what version i was using, as long
as it has the same message as given
in this version.
As a matter of fact, i first confessed Jesus
as Lord 52 years before this version existed.

Of course, there are some rabid KJVOs
(not all KJVOs are rabid) who cannot tell
the difference between the Living Word of
God (Jesus) and the written Word of God
(Holy Bible). They are to be pittied, not
imulated.

I think even the most grossly <edited by moderator> translation contains the plan of salvation.

Amen, Brother Anti-Alexandrian -- Preach it! [IMG]

Thank you for refreshing my bowels in
the Lord today! May God be liberal
today in blessings toward you,
your family, and your ministy. Amen.

THE READER'S DIGEST BIBLE says
on page 670: ""If you confess with
your lips that Jesus is Lord
and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
"

Yes, I'm aware not all IFB/KJVO's are "rabid". I was one for over 30 years in the tradition of JH. It was a great relief when the Lord set us free from that group of people.

I would tend to agree with this statement. I still have my copy of "Good News For Modern Man" from back in the 1960's, and I believe I could lead people to the Lord with it. Now, maybe "Chick Tracts" should put out a Bible...LOL

Heck, even the KJV is better than nothing!

RAB'ID, a. [L. rabidus, from rabio, rabo, to rage.]

Furious; raging; mad; as a rabid dog or wolf. It is particularly applied to animals of the canine genus, affected with the distemper called rabies, and whose bite communicates hydrophobia.

I truly find the frequent use of this word as applied to a certain group of folks to be very offensive and insulting.

I was saved at an altar call after hearing a sermon when I was quite young. I do not recall a specific Bible being used, I have no idea what the preacher's preference was, nor does it matter in the slightest.

Saved at the age of 7; having been led through the plan of salvation from the KJV.

I was saved in my teen years. I had a Pulpit Bible in Dutch, and a Good News translation in English.

I was saved by the Holy Spirit. The bible can't save anyone.

What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel's veins; and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains!

I was saved Memorial Day Weekend 1995, at a Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames play. The first Bible I read was the NIV. I no longer care much for that style of evangelism or the NIV translation.
I usually use the ESV, HCSB, and the KJV.
2 of which did not exist in '95, only 9 years ago.
I wonder how people got saved prior to 1611. [IMG]

Is the American Standard Version, 1901 a "modern" version?

Guess anything written after the Geneva is "modern" - in modern English.

My working definition is anthing built
after the 17th century (that is 1701 on).
So that makes the KJV1769 that many KJBOs
use to be a Modern Version (MV). It really
seems strange when i hear a KJBO dissing
the group of ALL MVs (cause they are dissing
their own KJB  )
